Hello all,

Just wanted to send out the link to an interview on Creativity Portal about Mind Work. It's a wonderful and engaging piece and I was thrilled to be able to do it.

Please visit http://www.creativity-portal.com/arti... to read it.

Best,
Peter

Susan Oleksiw | 4 comments Thanks for the link to the interview. I really liked the last part about "slow looking," which for me is the only way to learn. Let the mind absorb and understand. I'm looking forward to learning more from this group.

Hello, Susan,

If you're in the S. California area, you might enjoy one of my "One Hour/One Painting" events. Let me know if you'd like to be on my contact list.

Cheers, Peter

Susan Oleksiw | 4 comments I'm outside Boston, so probably hard for me to get there ;). But I still hope to learn a lot.

Susan Oleksiw | 4 comments Christy, I agree completely. When I find myself talking to a person who believes everything he has he has created on his own, I usually point out that he drove to the gathering on a state-funded highway, graduated from a publicly funded school, benefits from all the government inspected goods, and on and on. It's surprising how angry people get to be reminded that they owe something to the larger world--society, their country, people they've never met who work quietly behind the scenes.

Thanks for the good thoughts, both. I agree that it's hard to believe that so many people can be so blinded to what they owe to others, and particularly to the society that, know it or not, supports them.

Susan Maldrie (evereveliveca) | 6 comments I agree we are in this together! Life is busy and we can get so wrapped up with the day to day details of existing that often neglect what's really important.

Susan Oleksiw | 4 comments I find meditating regularly keeps me centered and sane. I try to do this every day but I slip a lot, but still it really helps. It's also made me a much better listener.

Yes, Susan, I find that it works well for me. So easy... and so hard to keep at it!

I must say I was moved by the above interview. I too hunger to live the life I was meant to live. Freedom from our chains has to happen if we desire a true connection with self and therefore with others. Thank-you for the Aha! moment, provided by this interview. Hmm... two Susans in this discussion, timely-- perhaps.

Thanks for the welcome response Susan. This, for me is what it's all about. I hope we can find further connections in the future.

Lisa | 2 comments I enjoyed reading your interview, and I am very interested in learning more about your One Hour One Painting sessions. Where/when do you practice them? Could I join? I am a painter, and arts educator, and a meditation instructor, so this really sounds like my kinda thing! I have also just finished doing an MFA where it is all about discourse-talking, talking, talking. I am very much interested in a more contemplative experience with art that can also be social.

Lisa, thanks for the interest in my One Hour/One Painting sessions. I'm on a summer break right now, but will be starting up with some new venues in the fall. There's a OH/OP Facebook page, where you can get more information. Also, if you care to send me an email address, I'll get you on my list for updates. I'm at peterclothier@mac.com. Best, Peter
