Nathan--you might want to move this down to the unsolved folder. Otherwise you might not get a lot of people checking it out.

Nathan | 18 comments Thanks. Not sure how to move it, so I'll create a new one there.. I'll delete this one soon after you get this message...

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1396 comments For future reference,

when you create a new thread, a drop down box is there for all the folders. Choose UNSOLVED and click save at the bottom.

If you need to change folders click the (edit) link at the end of the topic tile and you'll get back to that same original page. Go back to the drop down menu and select the folder you want, and click save at the bottom of the page.

Nathan, are you still looking for this book? Was it The Jester?

message 9: by Nathan (new)

Nathan | 18 comments Haven't found it. The Jester was not the book. Thanks for checking in.

message 11: by Nathan (new)

Nathan | 18 comments Scaramouche is not it, but thanks for the suggestion. It was actually an audio-book that I listened to, it that narrows the search down...

Sheena | 9 comments a long shot.... but Steven King's The Eyes of the Dragon?

Michele | 2488 comments Might it be The Game of Kings? The main character doesn't dress as a jester but he sort of behaves like one, and it has the brother rivalry/revenge element for sure

Nathan | 18 comments Thanks for the suggestions but it hasn't been found yet.

Still looking?

message 16: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 56 comments It also sounds like Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado," except that the jester is the victim, not the aggressor. It's a short story but may well have been released as a stand-alone book at some point. (I know it was done in comic-book form and reprinted in a digest.) The harmless Fortunato, dressed in cap and bells for Mardi Gras, is lured down into the catacombs by his best friend, Montresor, supposedly to taste a fine new cask of wine. Instead, Montresor, angry about some imagined slight, chains him inside a niche and walls him up alive.

Here's a plain-text transcription at the University of Virginia: http://xroads.virginia.edu/~hyper/POE.... I first read this story at 13 and didn't have a good night's sleep for at least six months afterward.

Nathan | 18 comments Kathy, a great story, but that's not the one I'm looking for. Thanks for assisting.

Nathan | 18 comments Upon further reading, it looks like the previously suggested 'The Jester' is probably the book. Man, my memory is fuzzy. Thanks for the help everyone, especially Kagama-the Literaturevixen and Lobstergirl.
