Gaeta, what's this Rainbow Challenge you're talking about? I've seen some of your comments about it, and I'm curious now.

I'm still stalled, reading books from countries that I've already counted.
Thanks Judy. I don't know how to add a book from my shelf to the new shelf I have made for the Around the World books. Please advise.
I officially consider myself behind. I just looked at my progress and it says I'm behind two books and I'm reading another South Africa book now which doesn't help me at all.
I'm behind too. In august it looked like I was going to catch up but it never happened and now I'm even more behind.
I'm 3 books behind and at the rate I'm going, I'm not going to finish the challenge in time! I'm not worrying though as I am having a great time.
Gaeta1 wrote: "I am now in Brazil with The War of the End of the World. I am a month behind as I got sidetracked by my rainbow challenge. I kept checking the book out until I had reached the end of the allowable ..."What is the rainbow challenge? Sounds so colorful.
I'm 8 books behind. :(The rainbow challenge is in another group - You'll Love This One. It's a 6 month challenge that has you reading books based on the colours of the rainbow and the letters in the word "rainbow". For example, you would need to read a book that has red in the title or is the predominant colour on the cover AND the author's last name must start with the letter R. Each letter has different tasks and a different colour of the rainbow.
Gaeta1 wrote: "all orange books had to be done in August, which put the pressure on!"I blew that too and am now angry at myself as there's no possible way to make the 6 month goal. With 52, I kinda stopped worrying about keeping up though if I were to read two books a week then I could make it happen. So, it ain't happening! :)
Congrats to you Cheiko!
I'm so glad I didn't set a goal of 52. Of course, if I'm not careful I'll manage to miss my goal of 30 by just not thinking about it. Haven't read a book for the challenge for a few weeks. So many other books on my plate though I have plenty of appropriate books on my shelves and in my kindle.
I'm glad I started with 30, Marieke. It doesn't put pressure on me (real or imagined) and is manageable, with plenty more titles to read next year and beyond.
Sue wrote: "I'm glad I started with 30, Marieke. Sue wrote: "Good luck with it. I believe I'll make my goal though I do keep getting side-tracked."i keep starting books thinking i can finish them within a certain time period but then i don't. but i made two promises to myself this year:
1) don't rush reading just because other things are coming up
and
2) go ahead and read those impulse reads even if i have other "obligations."
Good goals Marieke. I've made similar ones for myself to avoid feeling like I'm being pressured or performing a form of homework assignment. I want my reading (even the serious parts) to remain a positive experience. And I pull in my favorite mysteries periodically for enjoyment.
My biggest problem, as I've said, is revisiting countries which doesn't count according to what I've decided about my challenge. I'm just about to revisit Italy because the book is irresistible to me.
Same here, shomeret...I also do that. I have read over 60 books so far but have only visited about twenty-something distinct countries. :)
Ditto here. Haven't changed my goal yet though. There is no way that I will hit 52 different countries this year. I have really enjoyed the journey. Now I want to read something from every country.
Will probably change my goal to 26? by December. That is probably not going to be obtainable either though I have certainly enjoyed the journey. Will continue this next year as well as the USA and Canadian challenges. Thank goodness that there are not so many Canadian providences but I suspect the reading is going to be very interesting.
Judy wrote: "Susan, come along with us again next year."Will there be another challenge like this next year then?
Because - although I am way behind (on 28), and have only started catching up at the end of September (though it has been 8 books since then) - I would really like to do it again next year. I used to have not enough books for even half the countries, but now I often have a choice of three or more, and I'd really love to do it again :).
