That's just cute. And you should know I don't use that word often or lightly.

Becca (goblinfan) | 402 comments It's okay Dustin, I didn't watch Star Trek growing up either. I grew up on The X-Files, and Star Wars. We can be our own little non-Star Trek geek group together.

Marc-Antoine Ditto on starwars and x-files.

This cannot be! Please tell me you're joking. Or that you grew up in a cave."

I am nearly through my button collection at work and then I will put the most popular ones into a new drawing to wear again :-) Key Managers still don't know our little secret and my rebel following is growing at work.

Jim Kirk.

I'd explain, but a joke that has to be explained seems so sad.

Is Jim Kirk the same as Captain Kirk? One of the key managers at my store is named Kirk so I call him Captain Kirk.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2328 comments ...yes.....sigh.

I just never got into Star Trek - maybe someday I will give it a chance.

Becca (goblinfan) | 402 comments So, Dustin, how has your button project been going? Haven't heard anything new on that in awhile.

The game has gotten old. I used up all my buttons, but I still wear lots of buttons to work like Jennifer Aniston & co-worker on "Office Space". I also cover my hat/cap that I wear to work. I get several comments and smiles as a result of my work attire both from co-workers and customers. So, I've still got a reputation to uphold and continue as the source of entertainment at Sunflower - I'm the smiling clown. We are under new management though and I'm not sure what the button policy will be - the new company seems a bit more strict where Sunflower was more laid back and casual.

Sunflower has ceased button production other than name tags, but I've got quite the collection and in fact if I find any of my co-workers name tags lying around in the breakroom or backroom, I go ahead and put that on. I have been collecting discarded name tags from former employees. Also I collected a "Betty" nametag - there has never been anyone named Betty that works for the store but the front end department had the Betty nametag created in case an employee left their name badge at home. I'm thinking of stealing the name tag that I saw in the receiving manager's desk this past week. The name tag says "Truck Driver" and I'm guessing this was from a time when everyone was supposed to have a nametag if they were in the back room - I don't remember seeing anyone ever wear the "Truck Driver" button.

On days when I have been feeling especially cheerful, I have worn up to 30 badges/buttons on my sweatshirt but it does take several minutes to pin them all on, they start weighting me down, clanging together and poking me throughout the day - so usually I sport a more manageable amount like 5-10. My hat is easier because I just keep them on it there approx 20 buttons on my hat. Today I took all the buttons off my hat because I needed wash it, but I can have an exact count at a later date.

Becca (goblinfan) | 402 comments LOL. Way to go Dustin. I'd keep wearing them until someone complained. Can't learn the new boundaries until you push out past them.

Jenn (darkstarcassidy) | 257 comments are buttons and pins diffetebt from eachother
my nephew designs pins at blackened design they are comic book characters. over in the UK he said that's one of their fads right now. I remember the 80's every Friday night we would go roller skating and buy concert pins to put on our jean jackets. This were good times

I think buttons are typically round and pins are assorted shapes :-)
the pointy points & how they are received is different on Buttons vs. Pins.
