The Gunslinger
question
Revised - Better?

I've heard a few people say that they didn't like the revised edition of this book because it does some "hamfisted" bits like changes of dialect and "takes away" Roland's mystique...
...so, to anyone who LIKED the changes...what made it better, and do you think it's worth reading this one INSTEAD of the original edition?

I've only read the revised edition, because I wasn't aware the differences were all that drastic, and I loved it. I've listened to some of the original version audiobook and noted a few changes, but I don't think it blunts the character. It seems mostly to ensure more seamless continuity with the rest of the series.
