He didn't react, but still his eyes kept flicking over to her every so often before looking away again. This happened for a few minutes until he finally spoke. "Um, hi, do I know you?"

Lacie raised her eyes to meet his. "Not that I know of." But she was pretty sure that he was another one of her charges.
"Ah." He nodded for no reason at all, looking shyly away from her again. The bartender came by and he timidly ordered a drink.
Lacie took a water because angels weren't… suppose to drink not hat she hadn't screwed up but still. She stayed quiet next to the guy.
Once he got his drink, he took a sip and immediately spit it back into the cup. Kellen wiped his mouth and turned back to her. "So uh, what's your name?" he tried for a smile.
LaCie could feel his nervousness boil off onto her and she didn't understand why. "I'm Lacie and honestly everything will be okay you gotta calm down."
That seemed to make him feel more self-conscious. "Okay, sorry, I'm Kellen."
Lacie tried not to crack a smile at that, because she liked to make her charges feel uncomfortable, which was an awful thing to do, and she never pulled it on Gennie. "So, what are you doing here."
"I-I just wanted to see what the city was like." He shrugged. "And you?"
Lacie shrugged. "Looking for someone." She answered.
"I believe so." Lacie said with a nod, feeling her insides twist a little at the question. "Do you have someone following you?"
"No." He answered quickly, thinking of his mom. "I mean, I don't think so."
"Well, if there is someone, you're safe right now." Lacie said, looking around the room.
He let out a breath of relief. "Oh, I thought you saw her."
"Well I thought you assumed someone was following me because you saw... oh never mind." He attempted drinking again.
"Well, I do think someone is following you, but I don't have the details." Lacie admitted.
Kellen took a solid gulp, his face screwing up as he took in the taste. "Ugh, gross... anyway why do you care?"
"Because I'm suppose to keep you safe or whatever." Lacie said, arching her eyebrow at him.
"But you don't even know me."
Lacie nodded. "I don't know most of my charges, and only one of them is my best friend...'
He didn't understand. "What do you mean by 'charges'?"
Lacie twisted on the bar stool, turning to where she was facing him more properly. "People I protect. I'm a guardian angel."
"Oh." He blinked. "What're you doing in a bar then?"
"Looking for you." Lacie answered.
"How did you know I was your charge before you saw me?"
"I can sense them." Lacie ran her fingers through her dirty blond hair.
"Alright." He took another drink, this time going down much easier. "Anything you want to know about me beforehand then?"
"Well, if you could tell me what's going on as a whole then that would be great." Lacie looked down at her drink.
"Okay." He sighed. "My mom runs this mafia in Florida, but they're all shifters. Long story short, she wanted me to join when I got old enough. Now I'm old enough, so I ran away."
"And you don't want to join... why?" Lacie asked, picking up her drink, trying to piece everything together in her head.
"Well I have my dad's thing with lightning, so she would make me an assassin of sorts. I don't want to hurt people." He looked at her. "Does this make any sense to you?"
"Yeah, it makes sense. Don't worry kid, you're safe with me." Lacie gave him a wink before she turned back to the counter.
He gave an uneasy smile. "Thanks, I think."
"Anytime." Lacie glanced at him. "Is there anything else you think I should know?"
He shook his head. "Nothing very interesting, so no."
"Okay, anything you want to know about me?" Lacie asked.
"Uh, how old are you?" He pushed his hair back, the sleeve of his shirt sliding down to show a running rabbit tattooed on the wrist.
"Seventeen..." Lacie tilted her head as she looked at his tattoo. "That's interesting."
He pulled his sleeve back into place. "It's nothing special."
"It's a rabbit." Lacie said with a smirk.
His face reddened. "Mom said it fit my personality."
"Yeah, I wouldn't know, but I'd at least thing you'd have a turtle or something more aggressive."
"I'm seriously though." Lacie said, taking his wrist.
"How am I aggressive?" He asked, very aware of her touching him.
Lacie slipped the sleeve up as she examined the tattoo, biting her lip to keep from laughing. "Never mind, the rabbit fits you very well, are you going to get a couple of bunnies too?"
He turned even redder. "I know it's not manly, but at least it means something."
"So, what does it mean to you?" Lacie asked, her eyes flickering from the marking to his face. "Because, I have a couple markings too that mean stuff. But they are considered scars in my region."
