Justin (justinbienvenue) | 792 comments I would like to get my book some major publicity going into the summer. Sure I have some ideas but they are basic ones like more reviews(which I am still waiting on), more interviews and Blogging my @$$ off. But I was wondering if anyone has any interesting innovative ideas to help me promote. Giveaways would be good if I knew what to giveaway, something more has gotta be there but im missing it. If anyone has ideas please by all means let me know. Cause when and if my book takes off for this summer I only have one thing to say...Getcha Popcorn Ready!

Diane Castle (dianecastle) Bump!

I had pretty good results with a Goodreads book giveaway. I've also tried Facebook and Goodreads ads with less success. Am doing the premium Goodreads ad package (display ad to the right) now also, and waiting to see how that turns out. More info at thebookmarketingblog.com.

Really interested to see what other people are doing.

Sheri I've seen your book on the side display, Diane :)

Diane Castle (dianecastle) Oh yay! I'm glad it's showing! Thanks for letting me know! :)

Judith Post | 391 comments Justin and Diane, have you guys tried Twitter? With hashtags? Kristen Lamb has a great marketing blog, too, at http://warriorwriters.wordpress.com/ If you scroll through her posts, she has lots of good info. John Locke has a marketing book that focuses on twittering, blogging, and hashtags. Alexander Zoltai has a good blog on marketing too--http://nfaa.wordpress.com/2012/01/12/... Maybe you can get some ideas if you scroll through. Good luck!

Diane Castle (dianecastle) I've read John Locke's book. I will check out Kristen's blog. Thanks!

Judith Post | 391 comments Alexander Zoltai's is pretty good too. A lot of the stuff is repeat info, but every once in a while, something hits that gets me going again.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 792 comments I don't use Twitter but i'll still check it out for the other ideas, hopefully something catches my eye that I can use. Thanks Judith!

Judith Post | 391 comments Twitter's worth the bother if you know how to use hashtags. Good luck!

Diane Castle (dianecastle) I think I need a hashtag tutorial. Anybody got one of those around?

Lol! Likewise!

Judith Post | 391 comments Both Kristen Lamb and John Locke (since you have the book, Diane) talk about hashtags--if you dig enough. Here's another site (not trying to bombard you--this site is TOO advanced for me, didn't even know what some of the stuff is), but just to bounce ideas around.

A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol) (avidreader68) I've been on Twitter since Oct. when I started my book blog and still don't use or go to hashtags. The few times I did click on a hashtag it was a waste of my time, something that's a precious commodity already. I mostly tweet my link for my book reviews and welcomes to new followers, but not much else. I have almost 1300 followers, so reading their tweets can also be time consuming. I have to limit myself how long I'll be on.

I always check out giveaways on Goodreads. I belong to multiple groups, so I have a lot to choose from.

Judith Post | 391 comments Do you notice a difference in sells when you tweet with #Kindle or #Nook as a hashtag, though? Or a topic hashtag? That's what Locke and Lamb recommend, and sometimes it works for me, sometimes not.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 792 comments Well summer is here and so far i'm on the same boat that I began this thread with. I have more people who have marked it to read on here, a few more reviews and ratings but not quite the mark I was hoping i'd be at right now. But there is still plenty of time, as my book will soon be available via Kindle so hopefully this gets me the jump start I have been looking for so until then everyone, getcha popcorn ready!

Judith Post | 391 comments Just my opinion, but I'd post on blogs about addictions in general and then mention your novel's addiction, in particular. I'm thinking the results of addiction--whether alcohol or air conditioning related--would be similar and trying to break free from them would too. I'd focus on what the addictions have in common, and then how yours is more specific.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 792 comments You can always post your own threads and topics dealing with the issue and idea at hand.

Judith Post | 391 comments Good luck. Bet there are a lot of blogs in cyber land that have to do with addictions that you could comment on. Then maybe those bloggers would come look at your blog.
