Kristi “Remember, we're madly in love, so it's all right to kiss me anytime you feel like it.”
I waited for it, and it never came. This made me laugh and feel bad for Peeta all at once when I read it in the book. And I waited patiently the whole cave scene and was in the end dissappointed. Of all the things they omitted, I missed that quote the most. Was it not as touching and important as I thought?

Katie IT was still good and it was important but not as important as other parts they ommited

Kristen I love that quote too, but I don't think it would have fit in the tone of that scene in the movie. Peeta was more stunned in the movie than joking about it. It was more a serious 'we're gonna die' feel. And there wasn't the time, like there was in the book, to develop the more lighthearted moments like that.

Ron Campbell I really do feel the movie should have divide the book into two parts - part one before the game starts, part two the game itself. This would have given the time needed to build the characters, Gale and Peeta and the Hub, and Katniss's family. Then it would make the games more understanding too.

Angie Elle Ron wrote: "I really do feel the movie should have divide the book into two parts - part one before the game starts, part two the game itself. This would have given the time needed to build the characters, Gal..."

I agree, Ron. I don't think that it was conveyed very well how much poverty the districts were actually supposed to be in. Therefore, it was never conveyed that Kat's hunting was more of a necessity to surviving than it was a hobby. That part was almost completely missed on the big screen.

Kristen I would have liked that too. But as a reader. Non-readers would have gotten bored and felt cheated at the end when nothing happened. Plus I really wouldn't have wanted to wait for the rest of it to come out.
I think they did a really good job as it is.

Ashley I wanted the whole last coversation to occur when Peeta is asking Katniss if her actions were just all for the game and her saying how confused she was. I feel like the whole relatioinship was blown over.

I missed that too, but that is easy to add in the next one. I think they wanted it to end on a positive note for Katniss and Peeta. Giving them that happy, victorious ending, and showing them more united against the threat of President Snow who's obviously going to cause problems in the next one.

I agree with you! This was a huge moment at the end of the book.

Perry "I vowed to return" - Katniss during the first interview with Ceaser

Yea it sure "I promised her I'd come home" (with a sad face) is so much better -.-'

And they could have used "Well, don't step on me." :-)

I disagree, we put up with 8 movies of Harry Potter, and we have to wait for the next 2 movies anyway. I think there was enough in District 12 to have a story worth watching with Katniss's mother and Prim that is totally left out of the movie.

Angie Elle I also don't think the last two books of the series would have to be two movies each. I think once the emotional connections are established, those could be one movie each.

But we need to know why these relationships were as strong as they were. As a viewer, I wouldn't get that.

People were willing to wait for the conclusion of the HP series being split into 2 parts. If they'd tried to split the first one up like that, I highly doubt people would have been very interested in continuing. And they probably wouldn't have kept making the movies.
You can do that with a series that's already been established in the movies, but not a newcomer. The readers wouldn't have been enough to keep it going.
Double the movies means double the money on an already astronomically expensive project.

Besides that, you had ALOT of action in the first part of the last HP movie. Before the Games in this first one, not alot happens. It's just alot of build up to the countdown at the start of the Games.

I think each book is perfectly designed to be divided into two parts or movies. There is already rumors that the last book may be two movies.

The second book is great to split into part one - looking at what it means to be a Victor. What the other districts feel about the games. Why District 1 & 2 find honor and glory with the games. Part two by having the Victors themselves competing with each other.

Jessica sharp I was disapointed when katniss found peeta he never said "you come to finish me off sweetheart" i waited and waited for that but he never said it. and now that i think of it haymich never called her sweetheart either and you think he would cause it's almost like a joke between the 3 of them cause katmiss hates it.

I just hope they don't take out so much of the good stuff in the movie cause i love how much detail the book has but the movie alwoys takes it out. Disapointment.

Kristen No, Haymitch called her Sweetheart a few times on the train. Can't remember if he did after that though.

lol, I seriously think the key to watching a movie like this is to only read it once before you watch it. Or at least leave plenty of time between reading and watching.
I completely forgot about most of the stuff that everyone's saying they missed so much from the books.

Oh, yeah that was a good quote! So many missing...

Serial Games

Danielle ikr they didn't use like any of those quotes

Ascel Kadhem Nowadays when movies that are based on books are made in the US, they use almost nothing from the book's quotes.

Gretchen Ron wrote: "I really do feel the movie should have divide the book into two parts - part one before the game starts, part two the game itself. This would have given the time needed to build the characters, Gal..."

I agree. Although I hated it when they did that to Harry Potter. I wonder if they will do that with Catching Fire, it could easily be divided as well.

message 22: by Julia (new) - added it

Julia The quote I really missed was the "I don't have much competition here."
"You don't have much competition anywhere."
-And this time, it's me who leans in-

Rosalba I missed the "and when you sang, all the birds quieted. Just like with your Father, and I knew I was lost" or something (I'm not really sure Peeta said it like that). I think it helped understand why Peeta liked Katniss so.
