John Baker (bakerjw) | 39 comments I just wondered what the most you've ever paid for a book. I've found a first edition, first printing, signed paperback of one of the best books written by my favorite sci-fi author for $75.00 and am trying to convince myself that I don't need it. Well I don't need it, but I sure as heck want it.

Has anyone else here collected books like this?

John Baker (bakerjw) | 39 comments Well I just couldn't stand it any longer. I picked up a 1970 first edition, first printing, signed by author, fine condition paperback copy of Ringworld by Larry Niven for $60.00.

Sophie (imhrien) | 17 comments That sounds like a reasonable purchase to me. I understand the lure that a first edition has, much less a SIGNED copy. I envy you the find! I think the most I've paid for a first edition was $30, but with the shipping and duty to pay, so in the end it was more like $45.

Sharon Michael | 99 comments I've paid over $100 for several of the big 'coffee table' type art books by a couple of different artists and just under $50 for a copy of the first book I remember receiving as a gift as a child when I was 5 or 6 years old which was lost in a fire. "Crazy Quilt the Circus Pony" written and illustrated by Paul Brown.
