I'd be an Aes Sedai from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time. And the Green Ajah of course so I could have loads of hunky warders.
I'm with Elizabeth - gotta be an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah, with a posse of warders.A bonus would be that 'ageless' look - no more expensive anti-ageing cream!

Lol! Lots of power, hunky warders at our beck and call AND looking young forever? Sounds like heaven to me!

Lol! Lots of pow..."
:D !!!
Is it odd that I like the idea of Feruchemical power from Mistborn more than the Allomantic powers? Maybe being mistborn isn't appealing to me because I'm afraid of heights. =)Although recently I've discovered I almost always love shape shifter characters. I don't mean like werewolves and such. I mean more like the kandra in the Mistborn trilogy.

I'll be a were-jaguar because then not only will I be dressed in style, but my jaw strength will be greater than a crocodile. Jaguars are not like other sissy predators that go for the throat. They crush skulls with their fangs and shred the brains. That's right. I'll be three hundred pounds of jungle fury leaping for your head.
Max, yeah I walked right into that one. Although to be fair I don't picture they actually (view spoiler)

If I could have one power, then I'd possess the laran that creates storms i.e. Stormqueen!. I've always thought being able to control weather like that is just so awesome (not to mention being a huge Storm geek girl!)
Actually, I want Bayaz's power from The First Law. There aren't much details about it, which makes me feel like he can do anything and live forever
I'm going to play devil's advocate and make a case for living without the benefit of magical powers. As cool as it would be to have them ... imagine the responsibility that comes with power of any kind! Robert Jordan certainly makes a case for that in the Wheel of Time series. Poor Rand carried around a mental list of the names of every woman who'd ever died because of him. That kind of guilt isn't something I'd ever want to carry around with me, and the powerful seem to accumulate it. One of my favourite characters of all time was absolutely non-magical, had no battle skills whatsoever and was the last person in the world you'd ever expect to do anything of great importance. The only thing this character had going for him was his brain. By using it effectively, he managed to survive circumstances that would have killed anyone else and accomplish what all his powerful friends and allies couldn't. Awesome!

Tish wrote: "So who is this awesome non-magical character? "One could make a case for Frodo, after that description. But you got me curious aswell.

Sherlock Holmes, though technically he's not a fantasy character.SJ makes some interesting points, and we all pretty much remember the line from Spiderman, "with great power comes great responsibility".
I like Mach's idea of Tyrion Lannister - he's one of my favourites too... smart, witty and strangely honourable (for the most part). Frodo or Sam are decent guesses too, but I would argue they succeeded more through sheer force of will more than because of how smart they were. I've never actually read Sherlock Holmes so I can't really comment on that one. Who else can you come up with? :)

Personally, I probably would choose being a full Mistborn. There is just so much stuff you can do with that.
And, although that probably does not count as a power, I would love to have a shardblade from The Way of Kings. There is absolutely nothing productive I could do with it, but I just love those things.
What about you?
EDIT: Completely forgot: Please try to avoid spoilers, as not everyone has read every book we will probably talk about here ;-)
