............
yes."

Then you've been fooled by a fake quote that's on the net.

message 152: by Kyle (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kyle Reid Seeing as there is hundreds of posts I haven't read them so someone may have pointed this out already...

Nagini was a horcrux, which would suggest Voldemort had her long before that Brazilian snake wound up in the zoo...

message 153: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva voldemort only made nagini a horcrux after he killed either frank bryce or whatever his name was, or bertha jorkins, so shortly before the 4th book... but it is a different kind of snake anyway

"There was a rumour that Nagini was the snake Harry released from the zoo in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This was proven false, as Nagini is some type of viper while the snake in the zoo was a boa constrictor. Furthermore, the snake was given a male voice in the film, while Nagini is female."

She was corrupted when Voldemort turned it into a horcrux

what snake?

message 156: by Leah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Leah They're different breeds of snake

message 157: by Leah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Leah Besides, Nagini is a girl. The Boa in the Zoo was a male. Did Voldemort change the gender of his snake as well?

Farheen Did Voldemort make his Horcruxes before he lost all his power or after it???if before, then the snake in the zoo can't be Nagini.....but if after, then too it can't be Nagini.....since that snake was held in the zoo since his birth.....and Voldemort won't leave his horcrux out so it could be captivated!Whatever be the reason,it was not Nagini....

Angeline Joseph It could be.....but then Nargini would've been more kind to Harry for letting him out.So...I don't think so.....

message 160: by [deleted user] (new)

It's obviously not Nagini, and I suggest newcomers to this topic should read all the previous posts like I did before speaking up. It just saves a lot of time.

I believe someone beat me to it, but I'd just like to point out that there are no "snake actors". If anything only the first snake would have an actor for the short scene where he's sliding away, and maybe right when Harry approaches it. But I can tell you right now that Nagini was completely CGI throughout her entire appearances. It would be far too dangerous to have a crazy poisonous snake like that on set, not to mention it would have to require casual friendliness from Voldemort's actor, and I wouldn't be to keen on acting like old chums with a giant venomous snake.
It would be far easier to simply add in a CGI snake rather than hire 20 snake trainers, and they would probably have to have about 5 snakes on set in case one is uncooperative. I think they had three owls to play Hedwig.

All in all, it's obviously not Nagini, it makes no sense at all and there is nothing to support it in the slightest. The one fact that the snake from book 1 was born in captivity is enough to completely destroy that theory.

george ☽ I don't think that's true... I've never heard it before. Plus, Boa constrictors aren't poisonous, and Nagini is. Plus, I'm pretty sure Harry would have remembered the snake he set free...

Jenna I don't think its true at all!

message 165: by Leah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Leah Nagini is a Python.

message 166: by Amelia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amelia May It's annoying that after four pages people are still believing it.
Even without the breed difference it's completely stupid.

I'm with you. Starting to think that Ron White might be onto something with that whole "Can't fix stupid" thing...*faceplant*

message 168: by Jeni (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jeni Sorry, I can't stand it!!

If you bite it and it makes you sick, it's poisonous.
If it bites you and makes you sick, it's venomous.

Snakes are not poisonous, they are venomous.

Oh, and Nagini is a different breed of snake, as mentioned before.

I feel so much better.

message 169: by [deleted user] (new)

jk rowling has said in an interview that its not the same snake

LAJones Nasra wrote: "I just found out that the snake Harry released in book 1 turned out to be Nagini. Did anybody else know this!?"

I am sorry to say that this is NOT true, the whole point of the snake was to get you to understand Harry was a parseltounge and also Nagini would like Harry in the rest of the films. Also Nagini is A LOT bigger than the snake in the zoo... I KNOW MY HARRY POTTER FACTS! :D

message 175: by Sela (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sela why are people still talking about this? if you read the first page of comments and a few pages after that everyone can see that everyone knows Nagini isn't the same snake from the first movie. there's only so many ways of saying it.

Lol I just followed my notification to come unfollow this discussion for exactly that reason :P

It's because people read the op and cannot contain themselves because obviously they know the right answer and for some reason they never imagine that perhaps it's already been said in 4 pages worth of discussion. I call it the Yahoo Answers effect.

message 177: by Andrea (new) - rated it 5 stars

Andrea Escaffi I've never heard that and it really doesn't seem real. It would have cmae up somehow, I'm sure of it (in the books I mean).
I also thought that Voldermort made all of his Horocruxs before his demise.

Kill the Spare IN THE MOVIE!! they used the same snake in the movie to portray the Brazilian boa and Nagini!
In the book obviously the two aren't the same.. Voldy has had that snake since forever whereas Harry sat the boa free only when he was 11!

Nagini was completely CGI..... she didn't have an actual snake playing her....

There was a rumour that Nagini was the snake Harry released from the zoo in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This was proven false, as Nagini is some type of viper while the snake in the zoo was a boa constrictor. Furthermore, the snake was given a male voice in the film, while Nagini is female.

Hopefully people will stop commenting now that we've cleared it up.... I shall be leaving now.
