When many authors have the same name

I've noticed that on Susan Kay's author profile page, there are several books listed as being written by her that I'm pretty sure have been written by another Susan Kay. Before I made any changes, I would have to do some more research and be more confident in my conclusions, however, it did lead to a question:

How do we separate out authors' books when the authors have the same name? How do you create a whole new author profile (if need be) or if it's already created, how do you move a book from being under one author's profile to a different author's?

Authors with the same name are separated by spaces between their first and last name.

Eg. Susan^Kay, Susan^^Kay, Susan^^^Kay, etc.

These spaces are only visible from the author and book edit pages.
