Well I first stared my blog back in Nov 2010 and like you I had no many followers to begin with but over times they build up. Be sure to host giveaway, have original content, do meme's, work with self-published authors, ect.

I just started blogging about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I just hit 101 followers on GFC this morning. I wish I could say that people just stumbled upon my blog and fell in love with it. But, that's not true. You have to network, exchange follows, participate in blog hops, etc. It takes about as much time as writing content for your blog.
This is some advice someone gave me when I was starting out (not that I've been doing it forever, but she's been doing it for years):
1. Focus on your content. I know, hard to do and build followers. But, if something has to give, pull back on the networking and focus on content.
2. Good Blogger Karma- don't just exchange links. Do your best to actually read the blogs of people you follow. I really love following on GFC because all of the updates go into the Blogger Dashboard. Comment, comment, comment on other people's posts- even if they don't comment on yours.
3. Try sites like: http://bookblogs.ning.com/ or any other sites like that that you see buttons for on people's sites.
I'd love to hear any other tips from people who've been doing this for years and years.

Thanks, Beckie. I'm hoping to get some design help from my son this summer. I know that that's something I'm just really not good at. But, if something has to give then that's one of the things- I'm just trying not to overly clutter it up with buttons and stuff.
