Jem (jemme) | 4 comments Question for librarians who are more experienced than me.

There are currently two entries (Heidi, her years of wandering and learning and Heidi, Her Years of Wandering and Learning; A Story for Children and Those Who Love Children) that both contain only the first published part of the book Heidi, which was originally published as two parts (but modern editions include both parts).

I read that the rules for combining collections say not to, but should this be considered a collection? They seem more like parts of a serially-published single work that should be combined with the Heidi entry.

Thoughts?

I'm confused. Are you asking whether a series should be added, or whether the part 1s should be combined with the parts 1&2's?

Jem (jemme) | 4 comments The latter.

Definitely not.

Jem (jemme) | 4 comments Why not? Are there precedents for this?

Edit: Follow-up question. Shouldn't at least the two Part 1s be combined?

Yes. This has been part of the policy for combining for quite some time.

Yes. :)

Jem (jemme) | 4 comments The entry for that book is a mess. There seem to already be dozens of entries combined and it's hard to tell which ones are the full book and which ones are parts 1 or 2 based on the names. Guess I'll leave it for someone more knowledgeable to combine.

It is likely that most are the full book, since that is how modern publishers almost always print it.
