This is quite simply an open letter from me to everyone in the group. I mean no disrespect to anyone in the group but I feel that I have been disrespected several times. Everyone participates differently and I value the lurkers just as much as the more active participants. I don't even require you read the book for the month if you've already read it. You know what happens and you can easily participate in the discussion without issue. I do appreciate people making suggestions of books and authors. I do actually take the time to check out the author and the book/book series.

I created this book club/group because I love mysteries and thrillers that have a female character as the lead. But please keep in mind that I am the leader/adminsistrator/moderator of the group and I will make the final decision as to if a suggested book/series is ulitimately included. I am aware that other groups vote on their books but they are also much larger groups who have a considerably larger percentage of their members participating. Please be respectful when submitting or suggesting a book. I am a strong willed, independent person who thinks for herself. So if my perception of a suggestion is that someone is trying to strong arm me or force me to add the book...well I won't respond well because I would never attempt to strong arm someone else. To me strong arm tactics are a form of bullying. I've spent my entire life working to stop bullies. And the rules of this group are very specific in regards to bullying. It will not be tolerated.

I ask that all members of the group be respectful in regards to peoples library's and their financial abilities to go out and buy books at will. Not everyone can afford to do that. Just because one person can go out and buy 20 or 30 books a month does not mean everyone else can. I'm fully aware that everyone in this group is in a different position financially and because of that may not be able to read each book. One of the criteria that the book or series has to meet is that I must be able to find it in an ebook format that is not drm protected. That way if a group member wants to read the book but cannot afford it or buy it or find it they can still read it if they choose to because I can email it to them or upload it on goodreads. I want to promote books that are accesible for everyone to read.

Also, I will update the book of the month in due time. I don't need people emailing me asking why I haven't changed it or when am I changing it, or demanding I change it, etc. When I have time I will. But if I'm not in front of my computer I can't do the udpate and you will just have to understand.

I want everyone that is a member of this group to be able to feel safe in this group. So I am letting everyone know that the rules will be strictly enfored from now on. Anyone in viloation will get a single warning. If the behavior is not corrected and happens again there will be no additinal warnings you will just simply find yourself removed and blocked from the group.

sounds good to me. I was very put-off by the nasty comments in some of the "community discussions". Already too much ugliness in the world to add it to a pleasure/leisure activity like reading.

I am sorry you have had to deal with this! I love to read as well. thanks to my mom, reading is a mainstay in my life. she got me started and now I have children who love to read as well. thanks for creating the group!

Thanks. My mom is also the person who inspired my reading. I just, for the first time ever, banned someone from this group for breaking the rules. She ignored her warning and continued promoting a book that did not meet the criteria of this club.
