Heather Who else got sick because of the camera moving to much in the movie!!!!???

Natalie Sowa I definitely did! I wanted to focus on the Capitol, the extravagant costumes, and the general opulence of the setting... but I couldn't because the cameras were so shaky and erratic. Why bother to go through all of the effort to show such craziness if you're not going to let the audience take it all in?

Samantha It was so annoying! I couldn't tell what was going on in some parts too.

Anika I didn't. The movie was plenty still for me.

~*~Brooke's Stripped Down Reviews~*~ That was one of the things that really bothered me.

Adina i really liked the way it was filmed it was filmed like a reality tv show might have been filmed

Nya Tomlinson-Horan-Malik-Payne-Styles I didn't get sick, but my friend on the other hand... she threw up. Then again, she gets sick when she walks on the track at school.

Heather Nya wrote: "I didn't get sick, but my friend on the other hand... she threw up. Then again, she gets sick when she walks on the track at school."

Wow. I didn't exactly get sick but some of the scenes made me dizzy

Courtney I got really dizzy and it made me feel sick, but it is still one of my favorite movies. It was kind of like a reality tv show was filmed (like it was supposed to be), but i got really dizzy and a headache.

ℂᖺαᖇᒪἷ℮ ⊰1017 &Tardis⊱ Sitting in the 3rd row of an IMAX theater at midnight was certainly dizzying!!! Better the 2nd time around in the back of a small theater

Hannah I agree. It mostly really bothered me the most when it was the fight scenes, all they did was move the camera around all crazy in a circle, you didnt even get to see good fighting because of it.

Louisa Hannah - that was the reason for it, so you wouldn't see much and they could let kids see the movie

Hannah Louizzza wrote: "Hannah - that was the reason for it, so you wouldn't see much and they could let kids see the movie"

I know they should have just made it rated R, it would have been better.

Louisa Don't know what that rating equates to in the UK but i agree, understand their reasoning though- lots of kids have read the series and would be pretty upset if they couldn't see the movie

Danielle Neldon The worst part for me was the beginning when Katniss first leaves her home to go to the woods. The camera pans over different people and sights of District 12 so you can get a feel for the place. It was very shaky and erratic. I didn't notice it so much during the actual Games, but maybe I just got used to it.

Mattie D The first time I saw the movie I didn't notice anything. Then again, I was in the center of the third from last row which may have helped. However, the second time I saw it when I was in the first row to the left I started to get a slight heachache. It definetly shook a lot.

Dee It was pretty bad for me. It was all over the place, I was relieved when now and then there were scenes that weren't that shaky. Hopefully they don't do that with the other two movies.

That is my hope too. Trying to be on the cutting edge simply to present in a new and creative presentation with no thought given to the viewers' comfort is beyond my understanding. When an effect is noticed, it is no longer an effect, but a hindrance to the product. The camera movement affected my concentration...so much so that if the next ones are done this way, I plan to pass them up.

Rachel IM SITTING THERE AT THE MIDNIGHT PREMIERE Totally Syched right? No im wondering at 1 in the morning why is the camera shaking!!

Clara i felt a little sick when Katniss was hallucinating when she had been stung by the tracker jackers...

I had to look away and close my eyes. I'm especially sensitive to motion because of a medication I'm on, so that was no fun. The moments when the camera held still for more than a few seconds were a blessing.

message 22: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma Mecham I didn't actually get SICK but it was just so much shaking of the camera that I COULDN'T TELL WHAT WAS FREAKING GOING ON!!!! It was like at one point Cato is on the ground the next moment Cato has him in a head lock! I was just really annoyed by the end of that scene.

Ashley I'm hoping it's not so bad once the screen isn't taking up your entire visual field (like at home on your tv). It was really annoying

Victoria It really bothered me! It didn't ruin the movie for me or anything but it definitely didn't make the experience any better. It wasn't even just that the camera was so shaky all the time but it was up so close that in some of the scenes I couldn't even tell who I was looking at!

my father,not me

Whitney Yeah, the shaky camera was a little annoying. This was purposely done to keep the rating PG. Especially during the bloody fight moments, the camera would move so you wouldn't really get to see everything that was going on.
Personally, I would have preferred a little more gore myself.

I agree, I get that they were trying to make it more acceptable for more viewing ages but the whole concept of the book is very dark and I think it was conveyed too lightly in the movie.

They would have lost a lot of the audicences than I think R is the equvialent of the austrailan MA 15 + which A lot of austrailan fans couldn't see and I kinda read it a 11 where I probally cloudn't see the movie , I still have some friends who couldn't see it with out a lot of begging on hands and knees kinda thing even than it needed some convincing

I loved it. To me it felt really authentic.

Heather It did make it more natural

Kirby I like the idea of using it to convey a sense of chaos and confusion, but I think they seriously overdid it. it shouldn't have been used in scenes that weren't chaotic or confusing, or even gory!

and, btw, I think they did a good job on the tracker-jacker hallucinations...

Heather I liked it

message 33: by K. (new) - rated it 5 stars

K. Chase I didn't, but I got a slight headache in the first five minutes where most of the worst of the jerking happened. A moving camera might appear more authentic but it was VERY annoying, and you had a split second to decipher the emotions on a person's face before you got moved up, down, all around...

Serial Games (Virginia Justice, #1) by K. Victoria Chase

Chelsey it was very annoying and I got a head ache from it
it lasted a long time adn when i asked my aunt she said that it didnt bother her

the fire burns inside me I got very dizzy and a little sick and a small headache. When the camera was still I tried to stop my dizziness.

Mandy Herondale (: the cameras were always moving. I got dizzy, but that also made it more interesting for me.

message 37: by Math (new) - rated it 4 stars

Math Teacher I initially thought it was a dumb idea, but after a while, I somehow understood why it was done that way. It felt raw, it felt genuine and I felt like I was part of the scenes. And I think it also depicted how Katniss narrated it in the book from her point of view, how she perceives the things happening around her. But yeah. It was overdone.

message 38: by Cathy (last edited Apr 09, 2012 07:24AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cathy This is a "modern" camera technique that tries to mimic what the human eye sees and the magnificent brain becomes aware of. I find it irritating when used for this purpose. It also is a technique I appreciate when it is used to lesson the sensationalistic effect of the violence. The Camera indirectly shooting the violent scenes rather than directly focusing on the blood and gore lets us screen though our imaginations just how much we want to think about. That makes it PG-13 rather than R. Another time it really worked well was when Katniss is stung by the tracker jackets. We experience her vertigo and sickness. Otherwise, camera shaking is not an effective technique.

message 39: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy Guess I didn't really notice it at all. Maybe I'm lucky not to be affected. I'm a person who can read in the car, so I never get motion sickness.

the fire burns inside me Lucky I get headaches if I read in the car.

message 41: by Rachel (last edited Apr 09, 2012 10:15AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rachel Well if they didn't make the camera shaky thenthe movie would have been rated R instead of PG-13 because its so violent. But they did a good job getting the bloody factor out there without the movie being too gory.

Ellen Seifried I didn't like how it shook in the first part of the movie, Neither did my friend. I made me feel sick, (but did't get sick) Its like you couldn't even follow the movie, becuase of the shaking. You couldn't focus on the screen at all. I was so releaved when the shaking stopped....
Now my sister who sat one row down from us said it didn't bother her at all!?!? weird!

Hannah Ellen wrote: "I didn't like how it shook in the first part of the movie, Neither did my friend. I made me feel sick, (but did't get sick) Its like you couldn't even follow the movie, becuase of the shaking. You..."

it bothers some people and not others, it is a tiny bit like reading in the car I am fine but my best friend feels sick when she reads even when she plays on her Ipod so it is different with some people some can't read and walk which is really easy except when stairs come into the question

the fire burns inside me Hannah wrote: "Ellen wrote: "I didn't like how it shook in the first part of the movie, Neither did my friend. message 45: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Terhune The way the movie was filmed made me dizzy and sick to my stomach. I was on the verge of throwing up the entire time. I also got a headache and it took me several hours to get over the feeling once I got home.

Julie I am soooooo glad that I wasn't the only one. I went with friends and had to walk out on them. I was nauseous and I had a headache.
