Pseudonym - best practice

General question - what's the recommended way to add a pseudonym to the database? I checked the Librarian Manual but found no advice for this.

This is about Planet der Verlorenen: Roman, of which I have the original 1963 edition, but it's credited to Sergius Both, which is a pseudonym of Herbert W. Franke[1].

So what's the recommended way to handle this? There doesn't seem to be a pseudonym field on the author record.

Was it ever published under his real name, or only under the pseudonym?

Yes, it was published under both names (the pseudonym in 1962 and his real name in 1987).

Then the pseudonym should be the primary name for all editions. The real name should appear for all editions that it was published under, and is optional for those editions published under the pseudonym. I have also added a link on the pseudonym's author page to the real name's author page.

I don't see any other editions other than this one in the database, though.

Also, is that the cover of the 1963 edition or the 1987 edition? It sounds like the former, but you attached it to the latter.

I see. Thanks for clarifying and adding the page for the pseudonym. I've added the 1963 edition (and moved the cover there) and combined the two editions. Should be all neat now.

The ": Roman" bit wasn't me, I was wondering about that too :P

Yeah, lots of our data sources have the ": Roman" or ": A Novel" bit on many titles. We usually strip them out when we find them.
