I disliked Valkyrie's attitude problem..."
I agree! I loved the first Maximum Ride books, but this series is just going on to L O N G ! I was very disappointed with Angel! But I keep hoping the books will become good again! *sigh* But at least there is (supposedly) only 1 more! So I'm crossing my fingers for Nevermore!

I hate when this happens! I've been so disappointed by the sequels or the 3rd book in trilogy/series! You know it's going to be a good series when the books are still AMAZING even after the 3rd and 4th and....
Gosh
I hated:
Mockingjay
The Camel Rider(*groan)
The Maximum ride books after the 4th book.
And probably a lot more that I don't remember at the moment.

I agree completely! Way to many pop culture references! And I definitely don't hate the House of Night, but each book I began to dislike more and more..until I stopped reading them! And I almost never don't finish a series!

Oh I agree, I started reading the Hou..."
Agreed! Never could finish either of those series!

Exactlty what I thnk.

It was awful! It was basically like Katniss did it all for nothing because she did..."
Gale and Katniss should have been together.

It was awful! It was basically like Katniss did it all for nothing because she did it all for Prim and *SPOILER* Prim dies!"
I know if Prim is just going to die anyways then whats the point of the story.

I liked The House of Night series.

-kushiel's dart
-the edge of never
-warm bodies
-daughters of the blood
-world war z
-fear and loathing in las vegas
-to kill a mockingbird (i'm probably going to hell for this)
-80% of shakespeare's plays

As an avid reader, I had prided myself in never having read a book that I entirely despised with a passionate hatred. Until I read this book. With such an incessant mind, I forced myself to endure every word in the hopes that the book might improve as I read on. But Alas, it did not and I was left utterly disappointed and became even more wary of books that are as well rated as this one. I am quite sure that my displeasure of this book came from the character. The protagonist of this story made me feel sick to read from the point of view of. I am ill at he thought that people such as this are common in society. Among the people I know, I have never met any who have been willing to go against my opinion of this book or even read it and I am thankful for that. I would also like to thank everyone who contributes to this topic, it brings me ease to know that I can find a place to warn me of books to avoid.

Tuck Everlasting - Seriously, what the heck. She should've drank the water and gone with Jesse. They acted like immortality was such a terrible curse. Why not do something good with your life if you're going to be around until the end of the universe?
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Maybe I'm stupid, but I understood nothing. Many other readers were like, "If you love ironic and sarcastic humour this is for you!" and I do, but none of this made a lick of sense and the humour that I could get the most basic of understanding out of was cheap and probably intended for five-year-olds.

I don't think I've ever had someone thank me for having an opinion. Nice feeling. xD
Find the cure for cancer! Dig water wells! Help starving children! Build houses! You've got your family and you're immortal. Stop being so bloody selfish.

OMG Tuck Everlasting! When I read the book and when I watched the movie, that was my thought exactly!! I know everlasting life has its downsides (everything in this world does), but she suffered so much as a consequence, as did Jesse. If she had just drank the water, she would have secured the love of her life, and have had a pretty enjoyable immortal life, I think.
Instead, she still had to watch her family die (her parents were already older than her - odds were she was going to outlive them both anyway!), so her argument about not being able to go through that is sort of invalid.
As for Jesse, it's him I feel sorry for most. He endangered his family, let her in on the secret, gave her water, gave his heart to her, and in the end she decides to look past the endless sacrifices he and his family make on her behalf and to not be with him.
Overall, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with that book. Love the storyline and basic concepts. Hate the ending.

Mockingjay
The Hobbit"
Yes! I'm not the only one who hates Mocking Jay! Thanks Olivia for being with me! Pheww.."
Haha You got it! I just absolutely ..."
What is wrong with the hobbit?

Farid said something about Fenoglio is crazy and not to play games with the dead and whatnot, but then after he dies Dustfinger brings him back, and he runs to the "crazy" dude and begs him to write him back from the dead, and that is playing games with the dead! Farid was such a hypocrite in that chapter!

I read The Hobbit a long time ago, but I enjoyed it. It has a lot more action than the Fellowship did for me. I wish Gandalf didn't love hearing himself talk for like a third of the book. I got so bored I couldn't continue. I was still in grade school, maybe 6th, and I was just getting into the big stuff. Maybe I'll try it again, but there's a possibility I'll skip the big speech.

I actually liked The Devil Wears Prada, but I didn't really like Revenge Wears Prada. Max was so sweet, he was almost perfect. I actually liked him better than Alex. But the thing that Lauren Weisberger did to him was not justified. I could expect Em to do it but not Max. So I hated the ending where she went back to Alex.

I liked the Twilight series as a story but didn't really like the characters. I don't like Bella at all. I mean, I get the whole introvert thing, even I am an introvert but all she does is think about Edward all the time. She did have reading as a hobby in the first book (I so wanna read Wuthering Heights!) but in the next three books, she doesn't read at all. And even in the first book, she doesn't have any other hobby. How can a person not like watching T.V., and that too a teenager? No interest in sports, hates parties, not good at school, no other liking. She must like SOMETHING, at least. Even I am an introvert like her but I love being alone. I love my own time. Listening to music, watching movies, anything. I found her a bit shallow and lacking self confidence.
And I didn't like Jacob. I found him irritating from the very beginning, 'cause I loved Edward and Bella together and I could see how he would be ruining that. Actually, that is why I liked New Moon the least. Plus, he imprinted on a newborn. Like, a 10-minute old. :\ And, I hated how one second he was going 'I hate Edward, I want Bella'. Even after she changed into a vampire, I know he secretly hoped to get her. And the other second, he imprints on Renesmee (I love her name and the way it is pronounced! ^_^ )and says,'Okay Bella, bye. Now you know why things didn't work between us'. And I'm like.. -.-

Another book I didn't particularly like was The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich. Having loved the movie adaptation, I thought of reading the book to get better insight into the characters, which is normally the case with books. But it turned to be almost similar, and thus, a waste of time!

I also wasn't a fan of twilight or the last two Inkheart books.

Inkheart... I feel like it was a good series, but the first book was the best. It was so magical, and I love rereading ..."
I might watch the movie. Though I expect that if I don't my friends will drag me to the theater. And regarding Inkheart, ya, Farid just went downhill from book one. Oh well, there will always be the first book :)

Actually, most of the books on my new-adult shelf, I didn't like. Especially THE EDGE OF NEVER. I get all ragebeasty just thinking about that book. >_<
Maybe I am too old.

The only New Adult I have been able to stomach is any Colleen Hoover novel and Making Faces by Amy Harmon.

I hear TANGLED and EASY are supposed to be good, and my friend Leah Raeder's book, UNTEACHABLE, but I haven't read them yet. :)
I did JUST obtain a copy of ANGELFALL though!

In the books that I hated, the heroine had to put up with a lot of crap from the male love interest, and it seemed like the writer wanted us to cheer these couples on even though the romances seemed on life support much of the books. I can get behind damaged heros if they don't treat their women like crap and expect them to hang around while they provide breadcrumbs rather than a feast of love.
In Maybe, Someday, the male love interest was committed to someone else while he led the heroine on...In Ugly Love, the male love interest was badly damaged from emotional trauma from his past and unable to commit.
I disliked "Mockingjay," "The Great Gatsby," "Brave New World," "Deliverance," "The Shoemaker's Wife," and "Heart of Darkness."

Aww, you didn't like Great Gatsby? I love that book. May I ask why you didn't like it?
