You know the kind - those books you would NEVER recommend to anyone, anywhere! This is the place to warn others, or even justify your hatred/dislike. Do not get overaggressive! This is just your chance to get rid of the myth that fans have no legitimate reasons for disliking certain series'.

These opinions are yours and yours alone, so try to be mindful of the thoughts of others. Everyone is different and will like/dislike different books!

Jai (janicu) I could not *stand* The Devil Wears Prada! I couldn't relate to the main character at all. Her job was NOT THAT HARD. She didn't have to use her brain very much, but all she could do was complain about how horrible this relatively easy job was. Ug. You have not met the devil.

I hated the ending of it! How it was like "yeah I had a pretty neat boyfriend, but NO I will ditch him for my job and then expect him to take me back once I come to my senses." She was a tad shallow in my opinion!

message 4: by Sadie (new)

Sadie Forsythe For me it was V.C. Andrews (Flowers in the Attic etc). I think it is the only 1 star on my rating list. Its been years since I read them, and I hardly even remember what I dislike. I just remember the vile feeling I got reading it.

I could not stand MockingJay. Horrible and ruined one of my fave series. Also I didn't like most of the faceless ones except for the ending

I disliked Valkyrie's attitude problem in the Death Bringer. I think, yes - she has problems and alot on her plate - but taking it out on everyone else was not the way to go about it. Another hate for me is Angel in the Maximum Ride series. The whole things with the flock breaking up and the storyline being stretched, was for me a little too much. Some series need to just stop!

I didn't really like Inkspell much. I always got to a certain point where I gave up so i read it like 3 times till I finally finished it and then when i got to Inkdeath I gave up again so I might try Inkdeath again

message 8: by Sue (new)

Sue (youvebeensued) Exactly Lucinda! I faced the same thing while reading the Immortal series by Alyson Noel. I really liked the first two books, but from the third onwards it lacked that suspense, that amazing-ness. Same with Bree Despain books of Dark Divine. I loved the first book, but the later two books couldn't steal my attention!

I hate when that happens to series/ trilogies.

Oh I agree, I started reading the House of Night Series and just couldn't bring myself to keep going, that and the Immortals series by Alyson Noel....

Seriously! He's a Vampire, and really gorgeous and handsome and terrific and good-looking and...*shakes head thinking she should really get out of The Edward Trance* He's awesome. People with no brains hate someone like him!

Rue~alwaysa1directioner~ (Ruealwaysa1directioner) | 104 comments Exactly. But some like Jacob and you know the reason? He's hotter. But he IMPRINTS ON RENESMEE within TWO DAYS of HER BIRTH!!!! What's wrong with him???!!!

message 20: by Sue (new)

Sue (youvebeensued) Abby wrote: "Edwards Awesome! But i hated the ending for Breaking Dawn! i also didn't like Inkheart that much."

The ending was a big cliffhanger! I dint want it to end! I was like "Why did it have to stop here??!! Couldn't it just go on a little bit more!??! "

Rue~alwaysa1directioner~ (Ruealwaysa1directioner) | 104 comments But still it was sweet. I enjoyed the series a LOT!!

message 25: by Claire (new)

Claire (claireplusone) | 676 comments It's not a YA but Paint it Black by Janet Fitch is the worst book I have ever read.

I tried reading Stray by Rachel Vincent and couldn't get past the 6th chapter :/

message 26: by Lucy Qhuay (new)

Lucy Qhuay I hate Wolf's Embrace!! :@
Since when does a woman that is raped fall in love with her rapist? Since when will she willingly move to his house, marry him and have children with him?? :S

Also, I don't quite like books by Nicholas Sparks but I don't hate them.

message 27: by Megan (new)

Megan Ayres I know it's cliché to not like a classic, but I don't like Frankenstein at all. I love a lot of classics (Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights etc.) but not Frankenstein. Something about the way it's written really irks me.
And I could never finish Dark Visions by LJ Smith, even though all her other books I've read I've liked.

message 28: by £mily (new)

£mily (3mily991) | 33 comments Sorry Twilight lovers, but I hate Twilight with a passion!
I hate Bella Swan, the stupid, vapid, superficial, selfish, annoying protagonist. I hate Edward, the sparkly, depressed, stalker-ish, 108 year old, personality-less 'vampire'.
I hate how we are being told how beautiful he is every few pages.
I hate the 2 dimensional characters.
I hate the writing.
Basically, I hate everything about this series.
If you like the series, please don't hold it against me. I still like you :)

I didn't like the House of Night series. I am not sure why. i think it was not the idea of the series but the way it was written really annoyed me and didn't appeal to me.

message 31: by Noël (new)

Noël (eyreheights) | 1 comments I hate wildfire with a burning passion! One of the worst books ever. Everything about it is just plain bad. The writing style, the characters, and the setting. I don't care for Twilight much either(sorry). These series are not very good and I don't recommend them.

And Gale's a tad bit insensitive to her at the end of it too - I mean, Katniss went through alot and he's all "Well, I'm off," and goes off!! At least Peeta hangs in there with her :D

Exactly! How could Gale just up and leave right after Prim dies! It's soo messed up! And ya Peeta stays but he was all screwy because of the whole memory thing and whatnot. It was just all in all a really bad ending.

Peeta was the worst part by far - I wanted him to be the same steadfast Peeta we knew but he's all screwed up and babyish and I know it sound insensitive but it just ruined it for me!! All I wanted was the old Peeta, and then Katniss had to go lose her mind too!!

The scene with President Snow and the roses at the end...wth?!!

I agree. Yes, I wanted Peeta and Katniss together, but I wanted PEETA and KATNISS together, not some people who were like them but weren't.

And the whole President Snow thing drove me crazy!

Oh so very true. I was completely enraptured in the series until I finished Mockingjay. I closed it and just stared. Blinked a few times and said, "WHAT THE EFF!". Then I shunned it until I could stand to think about it again.

Also, whomever mentioned "The Devil Wears Prada" at the the beginning of this thread many months ago, I agree! That book follows the same ridiculous plot line that SO many other chick-lit books do - giving women everywhere a bad name. Le sigh!

Someone else mentioned that "Flowers in the Attic" left them feeling icky after reading it but that they couldn't even recall why. I just want to note that it's probably because that book is about incest - which would leave most people feeling icky, lol. I haven't read it yet but I bought it at a thrift store so I could finally just read it and get it over with.

Yeah, I agree. I read this series and I was really disappointed cause it wasn't too good. I also didn't really like The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove by Lauren Kate because the ending was really bad.

message 49: by Temi (new)

Temi Oladeji | 2 comments Why do people hate Mockingjay? Just because it didn't end all preppy and happy. That's life homies. It's not my favorite Hunger games but I actually enjoy reading it. people leaves and people die but Prim and Gale just happened to during a rebellion. I love that book and if you actually like the Hunger games series you would like Mockingjay.

message 50: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (velliya) | 424 comments That's not necessarily true. In fact, if you love a series so much that you are able to realise bits that you don't like, then that is true appreciation of a series.
Mockingjay was fine, by comparison to other books in the same genre, but when compared to the other books in the trilogy, it wasn't nearly as good.

Prim's was an unnecessary death that underminded the whole plot and Katniss' drive for equality.
Gale's story was just a loose end that Susan quickly finished... And finished badly.
the Epilogue was slightly cliche, though I actually liked it.

I can say these things because I love the series, and as a fan, feel obliged to raise my opinions.
