Summary and Review

I received the Wraith’s Forest by L.J.Leger

The story surrounded Jenna a young girl from a small village located in a Valley that is full of light, and prosperity. But in order to ensure the Village’ good fortune the village has to participate in a harvest. During the harvest, young women are chosen to out into the forest to pick fruit from the Tree of Providence. The fruit is brought back and given to the village’s wizard Master Nole who creates an elixir that keeps the village in balance.
But just outside of the village, deep in the forest awaits the Wraith, which holds the fate of the village and its inhabitants in his hands. As long as the harvest and the elixir is completed all will be well, the villagers are assured by Master Nole.
Over the years, the reason had been lost, but only women were allowed to enter the Forest to harvest from the Tree of Providence. As long as they remained on the path, then all will be well.
Seventeen year old Jenna, was one of the youngest chosen (against some of the wishes of senior villagers), the concern that the very young will not fully understand the gravity of the harvest and the ceremony. But Jenna was chosen, and although she carried out her duties, she had resentment in her heart because she did not view this as an honor, her mind was on her mother and the impending birth of her brother and all the duties she had at home.
But she carried out her duties, and all went well until the last day of the harvest when one of the fruit fell and was bruised. Although fearful Jenna did indeed present the fruit to Master Nole and withstood the judgment of the villagers.
Jenna was instructed to go into the forest, locate the Wraith and ask for his help to save the harvest fruit. This she does. On meeting the Wraith, things takes a turn for Jenna, she would never have expected and that changes her life forever!

Review: I really enjoyed this story. I was hooked from the very beginning. Wraith’s Forest was very well written, descriptive and entertaining. I was drawn into the politics and history of the village, L.J.Leger did a dynamic job in foreshadowing events with characters, specifically the wizard Mast Nole…I was so caught up in the story, I hated it to end! My only regret was that it wasn’t longer this is definitely a treat, a must read from an author to watch!

Judith, thanks for the chance to read this book! I love all things Beauty and the Beast and I realise my review may sound negative in places, but I want to stress that I did enjoy the story.

Okay, this is what we have so far on this book. One thing to keep in mind, alot of these readers didn't notice the 2 week time span for the review. Maybe we should increase the font and bold/underline so there's no confusion for other reviews on The Nexus. I can honestly say I would have done the same thing.
