Anyone else hate Jason?

Degeorgetown This was the first book in the series that I read and I've never seen the tv show so maybe he becomes nicer but wow he's awful. He hits Sookie in the face after they lose their grandma and never apologizes. Then he tells her to "get over" being molested. I'm not even sure what word to use to described how disgusted I was by that part. (Over all I loved the book and can't wait to read the next but just can't get over what an unlikable brother he is.)

Elia I think I hate him a lot more in the series than I do in the books. I think Ryan Kwanten (sp?) does such a good job of making him a huge a-hole that he just turns my stomach on the show. In the books he seems to have a few more redeeming moments.

Really? I sort of like him in the show. He's sometimes an ass, but he's sort of a loveable ass IMO (on the show). He's so clueless that he makes me laugh. In the books, he doesn't have as much of a story, and I don't care for him as much.

Maybe that's why I like him less on the show? Because he's a bigger character... more chances to annoy me or something? I don't know. Plus it bugs me that for some reason on the show Ryan Kwanten always looks sweaty or greasy somehow. Like he smells bad or something! LOL!

Cher It's the humidity in Louisiana, lol. Its hot there, trust me. I don't care for him in the books, he comes across as a typical Louisiana white trailer trash that hasn't a clue beyond himself. I did not care for the show Jason either. When he stole his grandmother's things after she died and when he hit Sookie. Then the thing about his Uncle just pissed me off. Sooooo, I guess I'm not fond of either one! The show Jason with the blood addiction and hooking up with the idiot woman who kidnapped the vamp and then killing him and getting mixed up with church. He's a trainwreak!

Degeorgetown Geez he steals his grandma's things? That's pretty low...

Rachael I think when you look at the individual things he has done he is fairly despicable, but on the whole I find I am fairly indifferent to him. I really don't hate him or warm to him. He doesn't have a major role so I find him forgettable. I get the feeling he was written in only so there would be another character close to Sookie.

Morgana_lefay I don't like him much but I feel a little sorry for him later in the series (view spoiler)

I agree

Jennifer Dupriest I don't know if I like him or hate him--I guess it depends on the parts. I was angry when he hit Sookie and got mad when he told Sookie to get over the fact she was molested. I thought he was a jerk who really didn't care, but then there were parts when he would show he cared...
I knew one thing for sure--Jason was one of the stupidest characters ever too, with all his videos and getting accused. At one point I really thought he killed those girls.

Dude, I think none of them in the book have much of a story besides Sookie. Well at least to me. They all seem kinda bland to me. The show give them life IMO. Cannot wait for it to start again (the show that is). The books have been not so good lately in this series. Hopefully the one coming out gets better than the last three.

Christina You know, I really can't explain the why of it all, but I actually like Jason. I don't love the guy, but he certainly has his moments. If he wants to tell his younger sister to just forget about being molested, then he can shove it. If he wants to escort her to some sort of strange pack meeting and get all brotherly, however, then he can just warm my heart. Perhaps it just depends-for me-on the book?

Kirby I never liked or disliked jason much in the books, but something about his true blood character appeals to me. sure, he's still dumb and thoughtless, but he's more sympathetic- like how he felt so guilty about that vampire, and how he seems so desperate for approval...however, I've only watched maybe the first two seasons.

Degeorgetown I just finished watching the first season of True Blood the other day and did find Jason a little more likeable in the show. He's kind of a dummy but not as much of a jerk. He at least apologizes to Sookie for hitting her and "Get over it" is never said which definitely made his character more sympathetic.

Hey that humidity is bad all over the south. Not just Louisiana.A lot of siblings tell the other one who is molested to get over it. It didn't happen to them so they don't understand it. It is partly because he is a guy too. Not saying every man feels or thinks that way but some do.

Heidi I thought he was ok in the books, I hate him in the show. Hes just stupid in the show, and stupid is not sexy. I think hes lost IQ points since the show started. You would think he'd be mumbled from something by now.

Donna If you've read the books, he gets even more despicable when he sets up Sookie and Calvin Norris to catch his wife Crystal having an affair with one of Jason's coworkers. He knows that since Calvin and Sookie agreed to stand up for him and Crystal, each one of them would be liable if something went wrong in the marriage. In this case, Calvin had to take a punishment in Crystal's behalf and Sookie had to administer it -she broke Calvin's fingers with a brick. If he were my brother, his head would be next.

Agreed, that was really bad, but if I remember correctly, he really liked Crystal didnt he? I think she was a real b****, even though Jason wasnt much better, but maybe it's partly because he inherited the irresistible faerie beauty and it really spoiled him (it their father was part faerie wasnt he?)

Tia ShadowRealm not a fan of the book version but tv series Jason I love :)

I think Jason did love Crystal, but he knew that Calvin & Sookie would have to deal with the fallout while he stood by to watch. He surely could have handled it a different way. Their grandfather is Fae, but I think he is just a selfish male - no faerie blood required.

Agree, but the fae blood didnt help I think - it just help his ego to grow
