Kendal grinned widely. "How does it do that without magic?" She asked. She hoped she could understand it eventually. It might be fun to create a show if her own. She thought about asking her Merchant friend, but the thought created a blade of home sickness that promptly stabbed at her heart. "How long does it take for living trees to become dormant again?"

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily gave the child a small smile. "It takes a while, but probably no more than two weeks or so, this isn't the first time that this has happened, but it's the first that has happened to me." She explained. She looked out at the fountain again, "What makes this magical sight, without magic, is the lights that are staged inside the spouts of the fountain."

message 203: by [deleted user] (new)

Kendal looked at the spouts of the fountain. There were lights, just as Cecily had said. She still wondered how you could get a certain color to go off at the same time the water spouts moved and how you could get it to go off with some one manually doing all of it. She wondered if she could find a book on it. Kendal gasped. "Is there such a thing as a library? A large building that gives away free books for certain amounts of time?" She bounced excitedly.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily nodded, "Yes, there is a library here.....would you like to go and check something out? You can use my card to get something if you want." She said, smiling at Kendal. "It's not too far away from here, so we can go there and come back here if you want to."

message 205: by [deleted user] (new)

Kendal nodded. "I need to get Alice in Wonderland." She was happy she would be able to read it anyway, even without seeing her merchant friend. She knew she would miss him, but at least with the living trees, she might be able to go back soon. "Lead the way, Captain Tailed-Girl!" Kendal commanded with a salute.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily nodded and then led Kendal to the Tirierrah Public library and took her inside to where she would be able to find Alice in Wonderland. The area that they would find the book would be on the top floor of the three and in the middle section of that floor.

message 207: by [deleted user] (new)

Kendal was amazed at the amount of books. She read the titles of any she set her eyes on. After Cecily led her to the right shelf for the book she wanted, she scanned those titles. She picked it out rather quickly and pulled it off the shelf. "How many can you check out at one time?" She asked.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily seemed to be thinking for a few moments, "I think about four or five books at a time, but That's about it," She explained, "Oh and the books can be checked out for about two weeks." She looked around at the other titles on the shelves for a moment as well.

message 209: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 21, 2012 11:15PM) (new)

"What kind of book talks about the stuff that makes the fountain work?" She thought about a few other subjects she was curious about. "Is there anything on living trees? Maybe there is a way to keep them from waking... I don't want to kill them of course." She explained. "That way when I go back home I don't have to constantly patrol for brainless travelers who decide fighting there would be a good idea." She grumbled out the last bit.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily just shrugged it off and told Kendal to wait there and she walked off to go get the books that Kendal was talking about. She came back about no more than 3 minutes later with the both of them, One about the fountain lights, and then one about all kinds of monsters, It looked to be a book for heavy readers, but there was sure to be something on the Living Trees in it. "Here," She said, and smiled at the child, "I'm sure that these will have what you are looking for."

message 211: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 21, 2012 11:34PM) (new)

Kendal took the large books in her small hands and stepped back from their weight. She gently placed them down before turning back to Cecily. She had wide eyes that were over flowing with tears. "Tailed-Girl... I'm not mad at you for waking the living trees, and I know it wasn't your fault. Thanks for taking care of me." She sort of waddled forward and hugged the woman who had helped her so much the passed day or so. "I'm sorry for being a pain..."

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily just gave her a gentle, calming smile, and embraced Kendal. "I'm the one who should be apologizing," She said, looking at the child. "I shouldn't have run the enemy into the forest where you were staying, it was irrisponsible of me."

message 213: by [deleted user] (new)

Kendal dried her tears as best she could. "Men don't... sniff.. Cry." She shook her head, trying to toss of the sadness demons. She looked up with wet, but determined eyes. "I won't cause any trouble! And to pay you back, when I go back to my woods, if you ever need leading or information, you can get it for free! No sharpies required!"

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily smiled at her. "If you want that, it's fine with me, but I might be bearing some gifts for you from time to time." She said with a slight smile. "When I was younger I had found that I really liked all the colors of any kinds of markers and I started to collect all that I could. I'll show them to you later." She stood up. "You can take any of the sharpies if you like them." She looked up at the darkened sky. "So...." She started. "Where do you want to go now? We could go walk around some more or we could head back to my residence."

message 215: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 10, 2012 02:21PM) (new)

((When are you going to look for whats-his-face? The guy you have to hunt down? Just a question.))

Kendal looked around. "Lets head back. I want to get reading." She said. "And it's weird being without Bear." She smiled brightly at the Tailed-Girl. "So you like pens too? Sharpies are my favorite. They smell gross, but they are so pretty. And they don't come off as fast." She lifted her knees high as she walked, being silly and playful to mirror her emotions.

((Well Soory :P I was waiting and I forgot :P ))

Cecily nodded and then smiled at the child. "OKay well we should head back then, I'm sure that he anxiously awaiting your arrival back home." She said and started walking. "I do like them I've liked them for a long time, i just never had the chance to use them so you can rummage through them if you want to."

message 219: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 10, 2012 05:14PM) (new)

"I'll only take sharpies." She said with a happy grin. After they got back, Bear trotted up to Kendal and then stuck close to her. He didn't seem to want to be away from her either. She climbed onto his back and hung onto his fur. "Good boy!" She said, rubbing his side with one hand. They both then followed Cecily for a bit until they retired to their own room. Kendal sat on top of the dresser as her mind devoured the book.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily was going through her old things and smiled when she found the large bag of markers that she had collected over her teenage years. She stood up and walked down to the room that Kendal was staying in and knocked on the door. "Kendal, I found my pens, if you want to look at them and pick some out."

message 221: by [deleted user] (new)

Kendal set down her book with the book mark snugly in place. She walked over to the Tailed-Girl and the large bag. She smiled brightly as she eyed the loot. "Whoa!" She gasped, amazed. She sat down, her legs bending back so her feet were next to her sides. She dug through the bag, like a pirate finding a sack of gold.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily laughed slightly. "You really do like those sharpies don't you?" She asked with a smile as she watched the child dig through the bag of pens. There were all sorts of colors of pens in there and a majority of them were sharpies for the most part.

message 223: by [deleted user] (new)

Kendal couldn't stop smiling. Her face would probably end up stuck like that. She dug through and took out a light blue. "These are so cool!" She exclaimed. "It must have taken you forever to collect all of them!" She stared at the sky blue. It was beautiful in her eyes. "Can I have this one? Please, please, please!" Her eyes were big and pleading.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
She nodded and smiled at Kendal's excitement. "Sure." She told her. "That's fine with me." She said. She really didn't use sharpies all that much. She thought that it wouldn't be any harm giving her any of the sharpies. "You can take a couple more if you want to."

message 225: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 10, 2012 10:01PM) (new)

Kendal's eyes went wide at this and she stared at the bag longingly. "No. These are your treasures. Not mine. I thank you for the addition to my own. But I think most of the pride in collecting is working for them and getting them on your own." She gave a determined grin. "Next time you visit though, I will have twice as many sharpies as in this bag!" She challenged.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
She laughed with a big grin on her face. "Alright, but be sure to expect some more sharpies!" She exclaimed. Cecily's facial expression didn't change as she stood up and picked up the bag of her childhood sharpies and markers, they were never used, but she kept them nonetheless. "So, what do you say we go find something to do, or do you just want to read your books?" She asked.

message 227: by [deleted user] (new)

Kendal felt a bit bad for turning the Tailed-Girl down, but she really wanted to make it through at least Alice in Wonderland. "Sorry, Tailed-Girl. I think I am just going to read. I have only heard bits and pieces of the story from my friend. I have found out so much already!" She exclaimed happily. She didn't tell the Tailed-Girl, but the book also relieved a lot of her homesickness. It reminded her of the time she would sit around her tree house with her merchant friend while he told her stories of the outside world and writings of literature.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
She gave Kendal a gentle smile. "That's fine with me, I knew that you were excited about getting to check out that book, so I can understand the urgency of wanting to read it." She said. "I need to go out for a little bit though, SO I'll be back a little later, alright?"

message 229: by [deleted user] (new)

Kendal nodded as did Bear who was curled up next to her. She then gave the Tailed-Girl a small smile, before opening her book again. She gingerly set the bookmark aside and buried herself into the story.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
((So what should we do for this part, I thought that maybe we can use this to start the story line up and moving again. Would that be alright to do from here? Or do you want to wait a bit longer, either way I'm fine with it.))

Cecily smiled and shut the door behind her as she left the child's room. She headed for the front door after grabbing her pack and throwing it on. She wanted to be ready for anything that came her way, whether it be an assassin or something else like her target, or anyone working with him.

message 231: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 23, 2012 07:42PM) (new)

((I wanted to start the story a bit earlier. I have a lot of ideas. The only question I have is that if you had any. I wouldn't want them to conflict.))

Kendal was busy reading silently in her temporary bedroom with Bear. She began reading out loud to him, so that he may enjoy the story as well. He seemed to be getting very sleeping. Kendal smiled down at her companion as his eyelids started to flutter. He was obviously trying to keep them open, but was struggling. "I can finish in the morning, if you would like." Kendal offered. In response Bear got up and stretched, and he slowly walked over to th With a giggle, Kendal got up and closed her book, bookmark snuggly in place. She climbed up onto the bed and pulled the covers over herself. "Night, Bear." She said and turned off the lamp beside the bed.

Cecily had been outside long before Kendal had decided to go to sleep, she wanted to survey her area, because from what the woman who came to her house had said, the person who she was supposed to be on the lookout for should be close to Xerria.

message 233: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 24, 2012 08:05PM) (new)

Xerria was still bustling with people. The sleeping hours were not too far off though, so the streets would begin to clear soon. Laughter and loud chatter could be heard from all around and nothing seemed unusual. The wind was a bit chilly, but the weather was not, overall, that cold.

Cecily looked around the streets, nothing was really amiss to her. It was a normal evening, with the sleeping hours closing in quickly, time ticking by fast. The place was beginning to thin, but there were still many people out at the time, which still wasn't unusual to her. She wanted to go and scout the outer areas of the city, but she refrained and decided that staying within the city limits would be enough for her search tonight.

She decided that she should go and find some information about the person that she would be tracking down and hunting out. She wanted to know everything that she could before she did anything rash like start her hunt too early. Cecily knew of a good place that she could easily get information that she needed to. She traveled down one of the smaller streets in Xerria to a tavern that rested on a small waterfront. It was the fountain pond that she and Kendal had gone to earlier in the day. The tavern was on the opposite side, so she had to travel from the side she was on to the other, and that took her about five minutes or so. Luckily for her, the information that the tavern 'sold' would never be gone, and that particular section was always available, even after the sleeping hours.

((MUCH! 8D ))
A few men were huddled around a table. they seemed to be playing a kind of card game. Two of the men in the group were giving the waitress a hard time. She didn't look too taken with their attempts to woo her. One man looked up as Cecily opened the door. He had a long, curly beard that had obviously gone a long time without any sort of a hygiene routine. He grinned, showing about nine yellow teeth. His breath smelled of rotting pigs meat and way too much alcohol. He gave off a terrible body odor as well. It was no wonder that no one sat beside him, except those that were just as nasty. Needless to say, no one doubted the waitress for trying to avoid the gross group. "Can I help youuu?" He asked her, trying to sound sweet.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily looked at the informant, and in her mind she thought. Well looks like the informant types never change... She walked over to him and sat down in front of him. The stench was revolting, but she knew how to deal with it, and if things went bad, she would leave and find info elsewhere. "I'm going right to the point." She started. "I need information on someone, and I need it now."

message 237: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 25, 2012 08:06PM) (new)

The man eyed her hungrily. "Why sure, anything for a beautiful young woman." He complimented with a greasy wink. "Who exactly did you need information on? And what.." He paused. "exactly did you intend to pay me with?"
At this point in the conversation a loud crash drew everyone's attention to the waitress. Her tray was on the floor and her face was red with anger. Something was obviously amiss.
"I'm sorry doll, why don't you come over here and-" The man's sentence was cut short. The waitress had hurled her fist into his cheek and the grimy stranger fell out of his seat with another crash to follow the first one.
"That's it!" She snarled through clenched teeth. She quickly untied the apron from around her neck and waist and threw it on the ground. "I quit! I am tired of being verbally abused by you foul bastards!" She then gave one last kick to the man on the ground to which he groaned painfully. "You do not touch my ass, you worthless piece of shit!" With that she pivoted on her heel and stormed out of the pub. Everyone went back to their business, but the group of men at Cecily and her informant's table were deathly silent.

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Cecily ignored his compliment and did not reply to that. She handed him a picture of the person that she was supposed to hunt down. "I have not much information on this person. But it would be nice to see if you would know his name at the very least, and anything that you can tell me about him would be great." She said to him. "I want to know what you want for it, and how high the price might be for information on him. I can provide with most everything."

message 239: by [deleted user] (new)

"... Most everything?" He asked with a snake like grin. His attention was back onto Cecily as he ignored his companion who was trying to get back into his seat. The friend to his right was laughing at him for falling over. The informant rested his dirty chin in the palm of his hand, his gross beard curling around his fingers. "I know this fella. I can give you a name. But what's in it for me...?"

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
Maybe a medalion of Hygene you creep She thought to herself, but she didn't say that aloud, lest she might end up leaving as well. "I have many magical items that I can hand out to you. Most of which are very valuable, I can also compensate you with money if that is what you want. There are some things that I carry that are excedingly rare as well."

message 241: by [deleted user] (new)

The informant leaned back and sighed. "So boring you dolls are." He looked her up and down and then looked away with a disappointed tsk. "Give me a piece of cake and don't let me eat it..." He grumbled, almost inaudibly. He pointed at Cecily with a grubby finger. "Buy me a beer." He demanded. "Only a beer. BUT!" He added waving a finger. "Next time you need something from me, I get to chose your method of payment." He said. "That's my final offer."

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
She nodded and then waved the bartender over to where they were and ordered him one. The bartender, used to the stench that the man gave off, nodded and then walked over to go and prepare the drink. He came back shortly after with one for him and then Cecily paid him, also giving the poor man a tip.

"So," She started. "What can you tell me about him?"

message 243: by [deleted user] (new)

He drank the beer with a terrible grin. "Well, the fellow is named Jin Sklar. He hangs around the market district a few times a year. He doesn't talk to people much and keeps to himself. you won't find much about him in the town. You're lucky I even had a name. His face is hard to forget though. I'd ask around the market district if anyone has seen him." He took a long swig from his beer again. "And if you need any help, come back and see me, doll." He said with a gruesome expression.

Jin Sklar She thought to herself. She looked over at the man and nodded. "Alright, I'll do that." She said and stood up. At his last few words to her, she nodded. "I might just do that." She said, back up a couple steps, turned around and then walked out the door.

message 245: by [deleted user] (last edited Dec 03, 2012 04:15PM) (new)

The man waved, his lips still to his mug. "Come again!"

By now the weather had gotten colder, and the sleeping hours was preying upon the town. The streets were empty and quiet. The wind was the only thing making a sound, making eerie moans when it swept between buildings. One could see the glowing eyes of monsters that silently waited for food.

She sighed, pulling up her hood to cover her face, her cloak fluttering behind her in the wind as she started to move on patrol around the town. Not only was she looking for her target, she was searching for anything that may harm the city's people. She would kill any monster on sight of it. She came upon the City's Market district. It was silent and foreboding. Much unlike the way it was earlier before the sleeping hours. She searched around the area, Cecily had an odd feeling about the area and it wasn't going to go away unless she checked every nook and cranny until that feeling was gone.

message 247: by [deleted user] (new)

In one nook, she found a wooden necklace. The string was brown and felt like flimsy twigs had been processed into a sting. The wooden amulet piece was a carving of a porcupine. The piece of jewelry gave off a strange sent. Something more than just the wood it was made out of. It smelled of pine and a mixture of spices. It smelled really good actually. The carving was extremely well done, as if crafted my a master. The necklace's string though, was too small to have it fit around the average adult's head. Who was it made for?

Winter Rose Phantom | 946 comments Mod
She reached down and picked up the object that she had seen, it wasn't heavy, but it wasn't light either. It was certainly interesting to her, and she thought that it might have been dropped by one of the marketers that used this street to sell their goods. I shouldn't really take it, if it is someone's they would probably be looking for it. She thought to herself.

All-the-while she was looking at the item, her senses were flaring and making her realize that she was still not alone, with a forgotten movement of placing the item in her pocket, she turned around to continue her search.

message 249: by [deleted user] (new)

The sleeping hours were moving forward as the eternal time continued to turn the clock's hands. Soon, people began to shuffle sleepily out of buildings and the monsters of the night were slinking back to their dens to get some well needed shut eye. The cold air lightened a bit and some warmth crept back into it, yet it was still very chilly.

Back at the house, Kendal strecthed and stood, groggily walking to the thing the Tailed-Girl called a 'bathroom.' She moved a stool in front of the mirror and looked at her self. She still had not aged a day. She wondered idly why that always was. After leaving the White-Coats she had not continued in her aging process. She shrugged and moved on to analyze the rest of her. Her hair was growing back out and now it reached a bit beyond her shoulders. Last time she had her merchant friend cut it for her, but now that wasn't really an option. Sighing forlornly, she made a note to ask Tailed-Girl to cut it later. She washed up and left the tiny wash room. "Tailed-Girl?" She called, walking down the steps. "Tailed-Girl, you home?" She heard a squeak in the floor boards in the kitchen. "Tailed-Girl, That you? Why didn't you answer me? Are you sleep walking?" She pouted in thought as she neared the noise.

Cecily had stayed out all night, she was starting to feel restless as her 'brain leeches' settled in, making everything she saw funny as hell to her. Like those trees, the ones that were dancing for instance. They seemed to be waving hello to her. She had never lasted long withought sleep. She always got delirious until she got some, but normally something could snap her out of the odd state she was in with a simple sound or movement, something dangerous for example.

She neared her house and was slowly walking towards it.
