Perhaps he, too, is such an enemy.

This short has a lot of meaning for me as it was the first piece I had written after a very long time. In fact before I had written this I had spent a number of years thinking that I hadn't wanted to be a writer anymore.

As to what the story is about? It's a piece of speculative fiction looking at what happens to an artist whose identitiy is legally stolen from him just before he is about to finish his masterpiece.

Judging from your current reading list, I think this group is a good match for my first novel, Pangamonium, being launched in one week:

Synopsis:
Pangamonium is a comic novel that parodies travel adventure stories and satirises globalisation. It is a tongue-in-cheek adventure romp, a mock epic. Francis is a journalist looking for a big story in the tiny kingdom of Panga. He finds himself attempting to liberate a bunch of child slaves making sex toys for the West. Toss in an African pilgrim named Easter on a quest to find his grandfather's grave filled with pirate gold, a military regime oppressing the citizens of Panga, and a Bollywood romance - pandemonium ensues.

I belong to another book club on Goodreads that frequently causes me to cringe as people flock to threads about "underrated authors" or "greatest authors" or "books you couldn't put down" to promote their own self-published drivel.

Hi Jason. I just joined this group today and have been perusing around getting to know the "characters" who frequent these living folders.

I put down Rules of Attraction a few weeks ago and find myself thinking about those pathetic schmucks most days, wondering if they survived the world after college, landed jobs, found true love and became miserable human beings making their way in the world like the rest of us.

Getting to the point, I want to congratulate you on the completion of your novel and the positive feedback you're getting. I bet the uncertainty of the unknown, as far as reviews go, is excruciating so let me share in your relief with a big, "WHEW!" I wish you much success with Days Like These and whatever else is in your future. I am excited to read it, hoping to find new lost souls to connect with. I downloaded my copy from B&N a few minutes ago and plan to get started on it during my trip back home next week. (To Connecticut, that is.)
