William Mego (willmego) Here, you may promote your book as much as you like, promote yourself, or really whatever you like. There really aren't any rules as to what you do in this folder, as long as it's not bound to be considered TOO offensive or attacking people.

Comments and threads considered inappropriate elsewhere could also be moved here by moderators if they feel it the best action.

message 6: by Patrik (new)

Patrik Sampler "Kansai Airport" is a scathing, over-the-top assault on contemporary fascism, with a nod to the Freudian surreal. Until its official release date, April 10, the short story can be found in its entirety (plus audio book!) here:

http://patriksampler.wordpress.com/re...

Synopsis:

In an oversexed, near-future Japan, a foreigner arrives in search of his estranged family. Leaving the airport, he finds a society in which men and women rarely interact, reproduction is the domain of foetus-incubating blow up dolls, and all are on high alert for the “North Korean evil enemy”. Perhaps he, too, is such an enemy.

Jason Baldwin-Stephens | 131 comments Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to share with the group that my novel Days Like These by Jason Baldwin-Stephens is one of the two titles being featured over at Indie Snippets, http://indiesnippets.blogspot.com/, today.

This is also a great site for any fellow indies that are part of the group to get a little free promotion.

Jason Baldwin-Stephens | 131 comments Hello Again,

For those of you who are interested I will be doing a weekend long Q & A over in the Writers and Readers group here on Goodreads. Hope to see you there!

Also from May 4 to May 6 one of my short stories, Empty Shells, will be available as a free download for Kindle owners/users. http://www.amazon.com/Empty-Shells-Sh...

Jason Baldwin-Stephens | 131 comments Hi Everyone,

The freebie I ran for Empty Shell went so well that I'm running another one for my short story, The Masterpiece, today and tomorrow for Kindle/Kindle App users. http://www.amazon.com/The-Masterpiece...

This short has a lot of meaning for me as it was the first piece I had written after a very long time. In fact before I had written this I had spent a number of years thinking that I hadn't wanted to be a writer anymore.

As to what the story is about? It's a piece of speculative fiction looking at what happens to an artist whose identitiy is legally stolen from him just before he is about to finish his masterpiece.

I hope you like it.

Thank you,

-Jason

Zanesh Catkin (zaneshcatkin) | 1 comments Hi all

Judging from your current reading list, I think this group is a good match for my first novel, Pangamonium, being launched in one week:

Synopsis:
Pangamonium is a comic novel that parodies travel adventure stories and satirises globalisation. It is a tongue-in-cheek adventure romp, a mock epic. Francis is a journalist looking for a big story in the tiny kingdom of Panga. He finds himself attempting to liberate a bunch of child slaves making sex toys for the West. Toss in an African pilgrim named Easter on a quest to find his grandfather's grave filled with pirate gold, a military regime oppressing the citizens of Panga, and a Bollywood romance - pandemonium ensues.

More info here:
http://zaneshcatkin.com/

I love the books in your group blogs: The Corrections, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Waiting for the Barbarians, Snow

Thanks
Zanesh

message 37: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany I just want to say that I am SOOO thankful that this book club is not filled with spam :) Thank you for having an appropriate folder for people to place their self-promotion posts. I belong to another book club on Goodreads that frequently causes me to cringe as people flock to threads about "underrated authors" or "greatest authors" or "books you couldn't put down" to promote their own self-published drivel.

Hi Jason. I just joined this group today and have been perusing around getting to know the "characters" who frequent these living folders.

I put down Rules of Attraction a few weeks ago and find myself thinking about those pathetic schmucks most days, wondering if they survived the world after college, landed jobs, found true love and became miserable human beings making their way in the world like the rest of us.

Getting to the point, I want to congratulate you on the completion of your novel and the positive feedback you're getting. I bet the uncertainty of the unknown, as far as reviews go, is excruciating so let me share in your relief with a big, "WHEW!" I wish you much success with Days Like These and whatever else is in your future. I am excited to read it, hoping to find new lost souls to connect with. I downloaded my copy from B&N a few minutes ago and plan to get started on it during my trip back home next week. (To Connecticut, that is.)

Be well.
Tina~

Richard Alther (richard_alther) | 1 comments Greetings from Vermont. Thanks for this opportunity to say hello. My third novel comes out in September and deals with a gay hate crime. I'll share the first words of my first review: "There is certainly no question that Richard Alther's new novel, THE SCAR LETTERS, transcends the genre of gay fiction..." As an avid consumer of serious literary fiction (just started Susan Choi's MY EDUCATION), nothing would be more satisfying than to reach like-minded readers. I look forward to all groups in this category of Goodreads. Thank you!
