Kevin Fraleigh (kevin_fraleigh) | 5 comments Should I keep on with my trilogy or merge the three books into one? Take a look at my latest blog post and please give me some feedback.

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 2035 comments I like both a single large story and a trilogy....but I also don't necessarily need to be left hanging. I like the continuation of the story with a sense of newness. It really depends on where the story is going and can it be broken up with still a sense of new beginnings? (if that makes sense)

Kevin Fraleigh (kevin_fraleigh) | 5 comments I know what you're saying, but it would take a lot of rework to really make that work. What I might do is offer both formats. That way the reader gets a choice. What would you think about that?

If it feels like one book, keep it as one book, because if it feels wrong to you it will feel twice as wrong to the reader.

If you're going for print publication, it'll be in your best interest to break it up, pitch the first as the first of a series, and try and see if you can do successive release dates (an agent would be very helpful in this aspect). Don't leave too much of a cliffhanger at the end, though, because publishers don't want to think "what the hell?" at the end of a novel. Stop it in a place where you feel most ends are wrapped up (even if the story itself isn't), and don't worry about stopping at exactly 100k.
