What is your favorite Jane Austen Book? And why?

Pride and Prejudice.

It was just amazing, and the characters are unique.

I can't choose between Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice. I love Persuasion because of the message and because I think it's a character that I have so much in commion with, but I love the characters in Pride and Prejudice.

My daughter and I argue about this all the time. My favorite is Sense and Sensibility, my daughter's favorite is Pride and Predjudice. I like Sense and Sensibility because I think it shows the plight of women back then-women had no rights and very few choices. After her husband's death, Mrs. Dashwood and her daughter's are thrown out of their house because the eldest son inherits the home he has promised to take care of his half-sisters but his wife Fanny is greedy and doesn't let him keep his promise. The three women are left on their own with very little options. While the women do not change the world they do what they need to do, within the confines of their society, to take care of themselves and each other. My daughter feels that the charactors are weak and story are weak and not nearly as strong or developed as the plot or charactors in Pride and Predjudice.
