Between the chapters, which tell the story of The Night Circus, are descriptions of the circus itself, written as if you are visiting it right now. What do these chapters add to the story?

[Amy]

I don't know, in all honesty. I kept waiting to see where this was going, and it really didn't do much for me. I felt the novel could have been more effective without those passages.

[Amy]

I thought that the passages, combined and added to might have made a nice first chapter...an introduction to the circus maybe...but they could have been left out completely and I wouldn't have missed them.
