A friend and I have had an ongoing discussion about one significant line early in the book. It was to the effect that THIS story, the tale of Pi, was a tale that would convince you that there had to be a god. Any thoughts on how the author used this tale to fulfill such a bold stroke? I think there may be many options, but I'm wondering the intent of the author based upon the overall tone of the book, the careful development of the main characters perspective on spirituality, etc.
