Sometimes, it can be a tad juvenile, but it's a real hoot (as we like to say down South). For instance, in the most recent episode, I enjoyed Carlene's complaint about Amanda's "bunular display" when she wore slacks to church. I loved the party where they dressed like famous Texans. And I was rooting for Sharon when she tried to figure out how to put the bookcases together.
I caught the Premire of this show and it was quite entertaining. I only caught a little bit of the seconded episode but what I saw was funny.
It's freaking hilarious!! I love it.... total campy, soapy show.... to me it's like a Desperate Housewives, combined with Three's Company, with a little Dallas thrown in. It's great!!
Holli, you hit the nail on the head with that description. I find I don't want to like it, but I'm laughing every time (its becoming a guilty pleasure that my husband just rolls his eyes)
It's definitely not meant to be taken seriously.... just fun TV! I love that.... sometimes it's nice to escape....I live in Dallas and I've heard from people who have lived here their whole lives that there are some women who are like these characters.... maybe not to this extreme but close! LOL
This is definitely one of those "just fun" series. You shouldn't take the show at all seriously which to me can be a great sparkle in the TV lineup for this season. This one is better than a soap opera because it's over the top silliness/drama. If husbands are forced into watching, they could easily make a drinking game out of the show. Take a shot when a Bible quote is made ;)
I didnt want to like this show, but it does have it's moments. It reminds me of a short lived TV show in the 70's starring Barbara Eden, called "HARPER VALLEY PTA"in which the town's leading citizens decide they dont like the morals and conduct of the newly arrived single mother in their town.
This show is much better written than Harper Vallery PTA, but it all does look too familiar. My 8 year old niece thought it was a re-run of SUBURGATORY when all the ladies started talking like the Dallas character of that show. Unfortunately for GCB, the Dallas character on SUBURGATORY does a better job of portraying the bored Texas housewife, though living in Connecticut.
I signed a petition to save it; it certainly couldn't hurt!http://www.change.org/petitions/abc-a...#
