John LeViness (jlawrence) | 70 comments Steven,
There is a little more to this than that. Every Amazon book has tags that helps readers find books they are looking for. Most authors already have their tags organized for maximum effectiveness. The easy way to see their tags is to type the letter T twice once you are on a book page. The tag window will pop up. Copy and paste all tags you see just below the window into the tag window. Save the tags and then you are done. If this seems difficult, you can also scroll down to the bottom of the book page to the tag section and click on the tags you think are appropriate. Again, save the tags before you leave the page. Good luck.

With that said...

Got yours liked and tagged. Here's mine.

Kevin Berry | 6 comments I'm still having trouble trying to tag books. Whenever I try it, I get the message 'failed to save - please retry' but it hasn't worked for days. Does anyone have any insight into why I might be having this problem?

Ginney Etherton | 43 comments Kevin wrote: "I'm still having trouble trying to tag books.
I don't know what the problem could be. If I use the double-T-click method, the text box has the "save" button and it works every time. Unless I forgot to go to Google-Chrome, which means I opened goodreads from an email message, & functions are limited until I double-click the Chrome button.

Kevin Berry | 6 comments Thanks, Ginney, I tried using the 'TT' and saving from that screen, but it also fails every time.

I emailed Amazon about it but they could not explain why this was happening.

Steven Malone | 102 comments Hi everyone.

I have a special request for those just starting to tag.

Please click on the 'Show all tags' button and click on the tags that then appear. They are more appropriate for my book and I'm hoping this will push these forward as the tagging increases the count.

As much as I like regency and the ladies listed there, this is not the kind of book I wrote. So, I thank you and will do the same for you if instructed.

Also, thank you all who have tagged my profile and book to date. And I'm caught up too.

Happy New Year to you all.

message 1277: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Berry | 6 comments I've finally got a response from Amazon as to why the tagging is not working for me. Essentially they say the feature has been "removed".

"The original idea of Tags was to allow customers to tag items they were considering buying (for example, tagging items for a specific person as a gift), tagging products that they have purchased for later recommendations and tagging products to suggest better organization of them for Amazon. Over time Amazon has introduced new features that have replaced the TAGS functionality, including Wish Lists, Customer Reviews and Recommendations. Since the introduction of those features the usage of Tags, and therefore their value to our customers, has declined. We have removed TAGS in favor of the replacement features. Tags that you created are still available under Your Profile page."

Steven Malone | 102 comments Thanks Kevin,

Good information. I did see that after I added the 'civil war' and 'action/adventure' tag myself that my book seemed to have been bumped forward in the search engine and appeared on page one of that days listings in both catagories.

So maybe, just maybe, it produces some actions. Of course, my latest review (5 Star) may have helped. (shameless brag)

J.S. Riddle (jsriddle) | 30 comments I can go to author pages and like on Amazon but for some reason cannot like or do anything else on the books themselves. I'm going through what I can, have liked a few authors at least, so if someone could tell me what i need from the rest, let me know and I'll help.

Author: http://goo.gl/T9EUu
Kindle: http://goo.gl/okzDm
Paperback: http://goo.gl/FGDJB
They haven't merged the two yet.I have ebook elsewhere but Amazon is just fine :)
