I just realized who Po looked like in my mind!

Otherwise, it's one of my favourite novels and as with any matter of preference depends greatly on the sorts of things you tend to like. It's a very sweetly told fantasy story. It's an easy read. It's been criticized for apparently preaching certain feminist views (anti marriage) which I don't see myself. It IS a debut novel and though I didn't find it to be flawed maybe others will be able to tell it is a debut.
But one of the things that won my heart most about the story was that the characters weren't idiots. With the same clues and knowledge the reader has, the characters do not take an unreasonable amount of time to figure things out. I can't think of many weak plot devices. And the main characters were well rounded with a lot of attention paid to motivations and the mindsets of the individuals.

This one moves at a very nice pace and has only a breif slow section regarding romance which, if you're like me, isn't boring. A good deal of action in it, the adventure spans a good distance. One thing to keep in mind though is that it doesn't fully follow a tradition structure of storytelling (Into, body, building action, climax, falling action, conclusion) it's not in a bad way and it's not disruptive at all, it's just a little liberal with the standard formula.
But if it's any indication I spent some time rereading the hunger games novels and the harry potter novels because i didn't want to read anything new or slow. And when I read this one a second time, i still finished it in only a few days. Could almost have read it again right after.

Whoa! That's awesome! You found Po! Haha, thanks for sharing!

Well if you're reading the books and you liked Crescendo you're probably fine. I hated crescendo as well so when silence stagnated on the storyline for over 100 pages of boring crap with Nora it was the last straw. If I liked Nora as a character it wouldn't be so bad but honestly she seems very unstable. (read: "Insane")

"Graceling" and the companion novel "Fire" are my favorite books of all time! I can't imagine never having read them and I've re-read them at least 5 times each :)

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0330687/ Joseph Gordon Levitt of all people. With a tan, long hair, and a slightly pointier nose.
Anyone have a similar experience while reading this or another book? I did the same thing with Jace from TMI and Jeremy Sumpter.
