Did you see where Katie on her harp called up the local cousin of the Loch Ness Monster?

message 5: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments Did I? Where? I didn't see it.

There was a crocodile in there somewhere.

Thanks for all your reposts, Andre. Appreciate it.

It is well known in certain circles that the poltergeist doesn't know what she does.

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments Well, if nothing else it sold me a book. Someone asked me what the design was at the end and when I told her, she bought the book!

message 9: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Roberts (daniel-a-roberts) | 467 comments So, what would it take for me to get a tune from you for my book? LOL, Just Kidding. Awesome work, Katie. Pulling in a sale is a fine bonus. ^_^

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments Thanks, everyone.

I can't believe how this simple video has gone. I posted it on an online harp group I belong to, adding that I regretted I couldn't share the sheet music (because I can't actually write music - I had to memorise it) and within 24 hours a harpist in Korea had sent me a handwritten transcript (is that the word?) and 24 hours after I posted that, I was sent a transcript done in 'Finale', a music writing programme - in two keys: my original Gm and also Am, so that those without levers on their harps could play it. I couldn't even have told you what key it was in before I got that, such is the state of my musical knowledge! I also had a lady email me to ask me if she could use it in her harp work in a hospice.

I'm glad I bought me a harp!

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Well done, Katie! Both the harp playing and the presentation. I can't think of a better place to put your amazing talents.

message 22: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments Thanks, both. This video has been a long time in the planning. When I turned 50 two years ago, my friend sent me a photo of a bench in a park near her home which features in a video by Eric Bogle (Scottish/Australia folk singer). We dream of one day meeting and sitting on that bench because we have so much in common. The photo of the bench (with 'Reserved for Katie Stewart on it) meant so much to me, that I wanted to do something that would mean a lot to her. I hope I've hit on it, but she's away on holiday at the moment and won't get back until tomorrow.

Christopher Bunn | 160 comments Very pretty! You've inspired me. I've no idea who Brian Boru is, but he must've done something great to deserve such a lovely tune.

message 27: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Brian Boru is the father of the "O'Brian" clan of Ireland. Chief O'Brian of Star Trek was a descendent. LOL

message 28: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments The last king of Ireland, Christopher. Read Lion of Ireland by Morgan Llewellyn. Good book. My friend claims to be descended from Brian Boru, but according to an Irishman I met last year, 30% of Irish people claim Boru blood.

J.A. Beard (jabeard) Welcome.

Joann(san diego shutterbug) yes patricia .... i am working on my homework right now. but do i really have to eat my cabbage? ewwww....
patricia i have not been grounded for almost 20 yrs. my parents gave up hope of grounding me. lol.
It seems funny i can do homework be on here and on facebook all at the same time. probally cause this is my brain break from dealing with my english class.

Joann(san diego shutterbug) but patricia i need to be on the internet my class is online. heheheheh

message 36: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments Very tricky of you to get online classes.

Joann(san diego shutterbug) I have figured out that half the instructors at my college are better left to online classes. My science instructor that i had for example failed me ( in an online course ) cause i went out of state to attend my fathers funeral. He was a complete Sob anyway. when i emailed him and told i was not going to be attending classes that week cause of my fathers funeral. he gave me the line well there is wifi everywhere. Did he really think i was going to worry about my science class when my father had just died. I doubt that highly. He was a tool anyway...I retook his class passed it with a B... made his life a living hell in the process, repulsed him to the point that he brought out the disciplinary manual on me but i passed it with a B.. I am damn sure he was happy to see me go after that semester. hahahaha

Joann(san diego shutterbug) so where is everybody from???

Daniel Roberts (daniel-a-roberts) | 467 comments Joann(san diego shutterbug) wrote: "so where is everybody from???"

Originally Erie, PA for 7 and a half years. Lived in Florida for 30+ years, Texas for 3 years, now living the rest of my days here in Oklahoma City.

I love Oklahoma. Only state in the Union that has Homeschooling protected in the state constitution. My youngest daughter, who is now 15, benefits greatly from it. She's Lower Functioning Autistic. Meaning she doesn't speak or communicate in any way. Public School taught her to read 0 (zero) words in the years they had her in Florida. None. Nada. 5 months of Homeschooling, she can read out loud on a first grade level. First time any of us heard her voice in any amount.

Today, her speech therapist is thrilled. So am I. She's actually talking more and more. If there's more than 4 people about, she shuts down, too much input. I can educate her in a homeschool environment, and without the state messing things up.

I haven't been around the world yet. I'm saving that for after I kick the bucket. Yeah, I'm going to be the ghost who likes grabbing ankles of cute European women from under the bed at 7am. Good times are coming. Muwahahaha!

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Welcome, Joann. I am blessed to be from beautiful Vancouver BC.

Patricia wrote: "That's a moving story, Daniel. Thanks for posting it."

That is a moving story, Daniel. I have a grand-niece who is a 'person with autism' as we have been instructed to say. She is a beautiful soul - and for some reason is attacted to me. She doesn't interact much but stares at me and follows my every move. I so admire my niece - and all who look after people with autism, such as yourself. GoodOnYa, mate, sounds like you are doing a fabulous job. My grand-niece attends a 'normal' school with extra help from mentors and of course her parents who have devoted their lives to her care...

message 49: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments My best friend's oldest son is autistic. He can be a real chatter box, all about kid's movies and some internet site that rates them.

He sings silly songs sometimes, and is unusually social for someone as severely affected as he really is. I give my friend full credit for it, she worked hard with his verbal skills. He's such a character.

message 50: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Roberts (daniel-a-roberts) | 467 comments Patricia and Sharon, thank you ever so much. Your statements do a considerable amount of good. ^_^

K.A., that's why it's called a 'spectrum' disorder. It's amazing how different people with the same ailment can be affected in many different ways. I've met hundreds of autistic kids, even adults. Not a single one possessed the same sensitivities, and all are unique souls.

After my Valinthia series, I'm seriously considering doing one last non-fiction book, about autism. There's a huge amount of people out there who don't understand it, blame the parents for the odd behaviour, etc.

These children are sweet, trusting, and they have issues outside the box that no doctor or psychologist can anticipate. Yeah, I think that one is on the table to be written next.
