Nano ing the sequel to my Dodge Steampunk, second in the series. Pinocchio is a very naughty boy, but he's learning to obey his mamma. And the tentacles monster has implants. Did they make him able to target Oliver Twist? Did Spring-heeled Jack betray the Alexander Legacy Company? What can Jessica Fagin contribute?

Last three chapters of my na-no-wri-mo project. Should get that finished in the next few days. Then, I'm on the last third of a science fiction story. I hope to finish that one by the end of the month, though that may be a pipe dream. At the very least, I want to have the first draft completed by the end of December. I'm also in the middle of rewriting or revising 5 other completed novels. I have outlines going for four more, but haven't decided which to commit myself to.

It sounds like so much more, when I say it all together like that.

I may be finished with my NaNo rough draft -- I've just barely got past the number of words I had in the rough draft that became Wander Home, and I don't have any definitely-planned scenes left. I'll try to keep the creative program for that book running in the background, so to speak, until month's end. Then I'll get back to trying to get the cover for the Wander Home paperback sized properly, and then I'll go back to editing the long-overdue sequel to Twin-Bred. . . .

I am working on my NaNo draft, a third book in a YA Fantasy series. I don't think I'm gonna meet the deadline but I am soldiering on!

I'm still working on my mystery novel about the young woman that unknowingly makes a deal with a djinn. Just finished another major round of rewrited a little over a week ago - I added over 10,000 words (which came out to 6 more chapters), but I feel the additions really helped the story. I'm going to keep plugging away at it until I get it right!

Editing my magnum opus, Profane Fire at the Altar of the Lord. Historic fiction, three adventurers seek fame and fortune in 16th century Europe.

I'm trying to make it entertaining. Irony and a sardonic voice are more important to me than authenticity, so the standard of its scholarship is low. My target audience is the indolent, middlebrow woolgatherer that pokes about on obscure internet sites into the wee hours of the morning.

I had far too much going on this month to do NaNoWriMo, but I did start a new novella. Never thought of writing a novella, never thought about writing a zombie story, but the idea popped into my head and I couldn't stop.

I'm waiting for the layout proofs of my upcoming collection, __Sojourner__, poems, stories and sketches on the theme of otherness: travel, living abroad, escape. Have finished the first day and working on the second of a novel in frames (a bit like Boccaccio's __Decameron__) in which characters tell each other stories--it's based on the Medieval myth of __The Three Living and the Three Dead__. Three hunters come across three skeletons at the cross roads and they share tales of death and life. The project is to get six tales a day for a week. Also my publisher gave me a totally incompetent webdesigner so I just designed my own website leefoust.com--feedback welcome!

I'm doing research that may enable me to write a historical novel (or two) about the failed settlements on Roanoke Island (North Carolina) in the 1580s. Human beings haven't changed much.

Thanks Karen. It's getting easier to deal with. I still haven't gotten back into the writing yet, but I've started cooking up more ideas again... that's a good sign :D

I'm currently researching and writing the first draft of Rogue, the third book, while sketching out some short stories that will become 'Katla KillFiles', to publish between now and when Rogue is released, probably around December 2013.

Fortunately, I printed out a paranormal (ghost story) novel I had written because shortly after it was printed, the computer died. I had it on Word and so lost the file when the machine failed. I thought retyping it onto Google Docs on the new computer would go quicker, but it's been like running in a dream. I've been editing along the way, so this might explain why it is taking longer. I'm a fast typist, but a slow editor.

I finally got the cover for the Wander Home paperback in decent shape and published it :-). I'm editing the sequel to Twin-Bred, and looking forward to revisited my latest Nano draft -- but I'm thinking I may take a detour on writing-group nights, and start working on short stories set in the same afterlife as Wander Home, with some of the same characters (plus others). I'd make the stories free, and end each one with a plug for the only-$2.99 Wander Home ebook. I'd really like to help people discover the novel. . . .
