Stacy! That's a wonderful writing career you have. Thanks, he works hard on them and is self taught. :)

Cheri Champagne | 13 comments I am currently working on editing my second historical romance novel. The first in the series, Love's Misadventure, was published through Amazon, Kindle, and eBookIt (which distributes to B&B, Kobo, Sony, iBook, etc.). I hope to complete my editing in the next couple of days then hand my manuscript to my beta reader.

I've got the next two books in the series already plotted, and my mind constantly fills up with other plots that it's almost a challenge to simply have the time to write them all down!

I have to admit, though, that I absolutely love being a newly published author! It's great fun!

Julie Reece I released my YA debut novel Crux in July 2012. Now, I'm working on three (count 'em three) YA novels and I'm seriously doubting my sanity! Lol :)

Steelwhisper | 73 comments Once I manage to overcome my massive case of block I will continue with "Third Watch", work also on plotting an erotic literature novel, and write a few key scenes of a historical novel.

Heh. But first I need to get over that block.

Sanity is overrated. Didn't Neil Gaiman have a quote about that? ;)

Karen A. Wyle (kawyle) | 113 comments I'm getting ready to e-publish my latest book, Wander Home, a family drama with mystery elements set in an afterlife of my own devising. I'm trying to get the cover right, and preparing to move from manuscript to publication formatting. (Anyone want to do an advance review??)

I'm still polishing my latest book Mourningtide, which *was* to be out the end of October. But I had a 'revelation' on the first third of the story and am in the middle of a fortunately not-so-huge rewrite.

This is a sequel to

Hey Andrew! If you're looking to distribute your short stories for free, you'll probably want to load them onto Smashwords as well. Amazon won't do free unless it's available elsewhere on the web for free (and you'll need to get people to alert Amazon). Also, if you're lucky, your story will be picked up and reposted all over the web from Smashwords. I've had over 2000 downloads from a few free stories that way. Good luck!

Hey Denise! I checked it out and it looks cool. I may participate when my book is ready. That would be great. Have you ever thought of turning it into a blog hop as well? Maybe a "Feature your favorite Indie" blog hop? Just a thought. I've never organized one before but I've participated.

Kevin Basil | 40 comments It's good to see everyone so hard at work writing and promoting. I have to say, I think that promoting is the hardest part. That's why I dislike it so much! haha.

I have currently just started a choose your own adventure novel. I've never attempted anything like that before, but that's why I need to do it now. The plot came to me, so no I have to write it. It's an incredibly large undertaking (the plot map covers a portion of my wall the size of a mattress) that I'm trying to just write and not think about. Otherwise, I know I run the risk of being dumb and giving up.

message 171: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Pearson I am working on the line up for the second Strange Tales book, Strange Lives. I am editing my post post apocalyptic zombie story (After The End) which will be included, as well as attempting to rewrite a creation myth story called Origin that I lost when the old laptop suffered a coffee related accident (yes, I know I should have printed it out!) which will be included if I remember enough of it to do it justice! That is definitely the fun of short story collections - when one story is stuck I can set it aside and look at a different one without ending up all scattered and stretched too thin.

Ah, that takes me back to a show called 21 Jump Street. It was awesome, aside from all the racism in it.

teen cops bust people for drugs.

It has been a long week. Make that three weeks.

I read this and thought 'Huh? the busted people paid teen cops in drugs for busting them?'

I woke up, read again and smacked myself.

Sherri Moorer (sherrithewriter) I'm still working on the mystery novel about the woman that unknowingly gets tangled up in a botched deal with a djinn. I've been working on it since May and have to say that this is a fun project! I'm loving this story. I hope one of my publishers will pick it up and the readers will enjoy reading it as much as I'm enjoying writing it.

I'll have a look at contacting the animation/app studios once it is done.

Kevin Cunningham (brutesentiment) | 11 comments I've got a few things that I'm doing.

I just got my first novel e-published, and I'm preparing to really start promoting it now that some real life stuff is out of the way. I have a particularly ambitious idea that I'm going to start working on soon.

I'm continually working on writing and publishing my webcomic about baseball fans. With our chosen team (the Giants) heading to the playoffs, that's taking up a lion's share of time.

I'm also debating about which writing project to pick up next: a short story series that's Urban Fantasy, several fiction novels, or even some YouTube shorts for a series. That's my hardest decision right now.

sonya marie madden | 72 comments Book Freak of Nature

by Sonya Van Etten

Book obsessed? Not me! To date I only own 359 books. Compared to some, with 2, 000 books in their personal libraries...I'm at the tip of the iceberg. One fellow has a book issue, with 35,000 books in his collection! I'm not writing this to compare how many books I have to another person.
My passion for books and reading began when I was a child. I had a lot of the Little Golden books on a bookcase in my room. I knew that books took me into another world even then, though I did not think about it often. Lots of times I just read to read. I did not analyze my life or take a “book inventory”. I was six years old! My favorite stories were “The Pokey Little Puppy”, “Animals” (an encyclepedia for children about the wild), and “Cinderella”.
As I grew up, my book tastes changed. At a book fair in fifth grade, I picked up my first scary book. I can see the cover in my mind but have since forgotten the title. Haha! Pity they did not sell Stephen King, whose writing entered my life two years later!
I always had my nose in a book and my parents complained.
“Did you vacuum?”
“No, I forgot.”
Truth was, I read a book for hours on end daily. I got in trouble for forgetting my chores. Often, an hour beefore my father got home, I rushed to get dishes put away, dog fed, and vacuuming done!
Later in life, I could not part with any of my books. I did not have a book case. The novels were stacked on the floor in my tiny bedroom. If a fire had started, I would not be here. My parents were at a loss because I kept bringing the books home. My bedroom was a firehazard and a tripping zone due to my mobility issues. It was a prison.
My father said, one day, “Sonya, we know you love books, but you have to stop. Get a storage unit for the books.” I was seventeen and earning a paycheck. Wise advice but no way was I doing it!
If I did not have my books around me, I would go into a full-blown panic attack. I needed help from a counselor to deal with the anxiety, but I was in deep denial. My dysfunctional childhood lead to the anxiety and later depression; I had been raped as a child. Books consoled me, cradled me in ways my parents could not.
When I was eighteen I found a new way to spend money, the all-mighty credit card. My first one had a limit of $500.00. At first I would buy one book then pay it all, then three more and pay that off. Months later, I got approved for a second card with a $600.00 limit and a third for a limit of $300.00. I mxed out all the cards on novels, not clothes or shoes, as some teens do. Could I pay them all off? No! I decided to forget paying them when my minimum balance wass more than I made at work. I got one card with a new limit from $300.00 to $600.00. It did not help! Matters got way worse, with additional interest and late fees!
That pattern of hiding in a book continued into my adulthood. In my twenties, I quit working for a life on disability. A new symtom of anxiety appeared, writing inventory lists of all my books. No matter how broke I got, I had my books. I did not care if I ate.
Manchester Public Library, a town in which I was homeless many times, lets patrons borrow as many paperbacks as you want, a help to us book addicts.
