Spiffing | 2 comments Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a set of childrens books of which the smallest of fragments remain in my mind. For the last year I have been interested in trying to track them down again. Unfortunately with no author, no title and very small skericks of information left in my memory, this is not an easy task.
I was wondering if anyone else out there knows them.

This is what I know.

1. They are are large in size (a bit larger than an A4 piece of paper, about wheres wally size).
2. They are a series, all based on a war between 2 species of completely fictional creatures. It is very obvious good vs evil (and this is reflected in the artwork), no grey areas, afterall it is for children.
3. They have a decent amount of text but are primarily picture books. Amazingly detailed full page illustrations throughout entire book.
4. In one of the books (maybe others) I have a very distinct memory of the "good guys" using hot water bottle cannons.
5. Lismore library used to have a collection of them.

If anyone can help at all it would be much appreciated.
I know the information above is very sparse.

Thanks,
Ollie

Cathy | 123 comments Maybe Bottersnikes and Gumbles? Off the top of my head it fits the description. also there's a site called Abebooks that people help you to try and track books you can't remember the details of.

Spiffing | 2 comments Thanks for the tip about Abebooks, i've put the post up there aswell.

It's not Bottersnikes and Gumbles, though that too was a fantastic book of my childhood.

The one im thinking of is far more picture based, also more warlike, they have helicopters (with painted on faces) and battleships etc.

Thanks again.
