Dear Colby Cox,
Thank you for submitting your work to the Bellevue Literary Review. We appreciate the efforts that have gone into this piece.
Unfortunately, given the volume of submissions we receive, even quality work often has to be declined. Please be assured that your piece was read thoroughly and given careful consideration by our editorial staff.
We wish you luck in placing this elsewhere, and apologize for not being able to offer a personal reply.

Yeah, it's always sad at first. :/ Good idea! It's definitely an important part of the writing process.
Indeed! It would've been a lot worse if they said, "Sorry, but we hate your writing. We read the first sentence and threw up. Never send anything here again."

I want to submit stuff but that means my parents would read it no matter what and I write stuff that they wouldn't approve of and I don't let them read my nice writing anyways so I'm stuck until I leave home.

Thanks guys! ... now I feel like I was fishing for compliments. WHICH IS TOTALLY NOT WHAT I WAS DOING. PSSH.
(And yeah, Holden. That part is insane. My head voice needs a lot of work. I never use it unless I have to. xD)

Oh, weird! That's actually not the reason I recorded it. Unless it was subconscious or something. I was home alone and when I'm home alone I like to play the piano and sing loudly and I liked how I sounded that day so I recorded it. xD

Technically your parents wouldn't have to know if something you wrote got published...

Well, usually when books are published they don't skyrocket to the best sellers list, and unless your parents keep track of all the new releases of books, I doubt they'd even see it. You probably aren't going to be publishing a book until you're out of the house, so they wouldn't find out you were going through the process unless you told them. There are also things like pen names that are handy in situations like that.

I don't know very much about music, but from what I've picked up in choir (so don't take this is a textbook definition or anything), head voice is the light, airy higher voice and you're singing "from your head" and then there's chest voice, which is the lower range and it comes from your diaphragm and has a sound that's more rich and full. My chest voice sounds a lot better than my head voice, but when you start getting to a certain point, you have to use the head voice because the chest voice can't reach the notes. The notes my voice cracked on or wavered on happened because I didn't have a smooth transition into head voice or because I tried to sing the higher notes in chest voice and it didn't work very well. xD

Bah I don't want to wait until then but I have too.
With my Camp NaNo I could really care less because that's actually a nice, happy story.

I have a really low and small vocal range AND IT SUCKS BECAUSE THERE'S NOT ONE SONG I CAN EVEN SING WITHOUT SWITCHING OCTAVES EVERY FREAKING VERSE BECAUSE IT'S EITHER TOO LOW OR TOO HIGH

DUDE I KNOW RIGHT. And then whenever I go down an octave my voice is way lower than all the other girls around and I feel really self-conscious (which I always do when I'm singing anyway because I'm not very good at it).
I think society's obsession with "good" voices is kind of ridiculous. People should be able to sing for fun without being judged and stared at.
