My eye twitches all the time. It's so odd.

message 702: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments Wait, what's making you guys twitch?

message 703: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments DAH. It's a habit! Everybody does it around here. DISCLAIMER: COLBY IS VERY PRO-GAY. HE HAS NOTHING AGAINST GAY PEOPLE AND ACTUALLY STANDS UP FOR THEIR RIGHTS. HE SIMPLY HAS BAD HABITS.

message 704: by Elliott (new)

Elliott | 22634 comments Mod
I used to say "retarded" all the time, but I've cleaned myself up of that habit. I'm actually very proud of myself for that.

message 705: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments I say retarded and gay all the time.
But then, I also cuss a lot, which I figure is probably a worse habit.

Elliott | 22634 comments Mod
Eh, I don't know. I personally find swearing less offensive than using "retarded" and "gay" as insults. Because those are personal attacks at groups of people, and not just an attack at the person you are saying it at. Swearing is usually directed at the person that is being insulted, or used as a reaction to something bad or something good happening. It's not like when you say "d*** it" you're insulting a demographic and not just the person/thing that's happening. When you say, "You're retarded" you're saying that the stupid person should be compared to someone who is mentally retarded. Yes, some mentally retarded people are "stupid" FOR REASONS THEY CAN'T CONTROL. And I have a friend with Asperger's and he's one of the smartest people I know.

I'm not saying I'm perfect or anything. I'll laugh at mean jokes directed towards people I shouldn't be making fun of. (There's an autistic kid who comes to Junior Camp every year, and goodness gracious, he's hard to deal with.) I just think it's best to avoid using those words as insults.

Touche.
On a side note, when you said D*** it, I thought you meant the other d*** word that relates to part of a male's body and I was like LAV WHO SAYS THAT?

I swear much more than I should. Especially the F word. If cuss words didn't just roll off the tongue like they do, it'd be so much easier to get yourself out of the habit of saying them.

I've only said the f-word a couple of times, out loud when I got ridiculously angry. They were both in front of my mom. >.< But I didn't get in trouble, so yay.

My friends and I make way too many stupid sex jokes for our own good. Probably because we're all goody-two-shoes little SDA kids so we don't actually DO anything. xD That, and we're all way too comfortable around each other.

Uh, no. For the most part (unless it's a derogatory term aimed at a specific group of people...I don't know, I mean, several curse/*bad* words take root from that...anyway...) (also, I know that most Christian circles frown upon profanity, amirite? I don't know, I'm not a Christian, so...)I don't care how much you swear, but calling something or someone "gay" or "retarded" in that context is, respectively, homophobic and ableist.

I agree with you. Lav made the point that when you're saying something is gay, you're making fun of an entire group. Again, I appologize for using that word like that. I promise I'm not homophobic! It's just a bad habit.

It's quite all right. I could talk for a very long time about how using such terms but then not being actively opposed to them or whatever is greatly internalised, but I'll spare you from that.

message 725: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments I'm terrified. This cannot be easy. Ow, ow, ow. I know it's a joke, but I don't even want to think about that.

message 726: by Elliott (new)

At least you'll never have to actually be pregnant.

message 727: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments You don't *have* to. You could always adopt. God knows there's plenty of babies that need it.

message 728: by Elliott (new)

Elliott | 22634 comments Mod
Well, yes. That is true. And I do want to have a baby, that's biologically mine. I just wish I didn't need to actually be pregnant to do that. xD

Let me rephrase that.
At least you have no chance of ever getting pregnant. xD

message 740: by [deleted user] (new)

*gasp* A life? What's it like?

message 741: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments Weell, let's just say that I stumbled when I came into the door because I'm a clumsy person, then I got a bowl of applesauce because I was hungry...and then my parents decide I'm high. So they sit there and start asking me questions forever.

message 742: by [deleted user] (new)

XD That's hilarious. I'm whisper-laughing because I'm not supposed to be awake. And yet my parents allow me to have a computer in my room. Oh, spring break perks.

message 743: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments You're not supposed to be awake? My parents don't care. In fact, even if it was a school night, they pretty much trust me to just not be an idiot.

message 744: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments Holden wrote: "THAT WAS POST 1000 BOO YA. Boy, this topic is rather popular, isn't it?"

Well, it's pretty much 3-6 of us who are usually chatting here.

message 745: by [deleted user] (new)

Nope. My parents (read: mom) are/is really strict about curfew. It irritates my friends a lot. They trust me to the point of allowing me to have books in my room. If they knew I was awake until about two in the morning some nights? I would be ridiculously depressed. I'm a night owl who gets sucked into books. Yes, it's stupid, but I'm homeschooled, so oh well. (I realize I may not make sense. I'm a bit tired.)

message 746: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments I'm about to go shower. I am exhausted.

message 748: by [deleted user] (new)

Sure, okay? I'm probably slightly confusing. Because it is three thirty in the morning and I will have epic typos and awesomeness. I'm very tired. To the point where I'll either pass out or get insanely hyper. Is insanely a word?

My parents have finally realized that going to bed before midnight isn't really an option for me, so now they let me stay up and watch Netflix/read/write/mess around on the internet. :D
