Well after the hunger games i am stuck on what to read next. I want a similar story line where the romance BUILDS. With suspense action and a strong female character as well. Suggestions would be great!

Yay, someone agrees!
Uglies series, Divergent, Dilerium, The Maze Runner (not much romance though)....all great Hunger Games ish books.
I don't know any books like that... But try reading Pretty Little Liars, Kiki Strike, The City of Ember and/or The Lying Game. Great book series < I guarantee you'll love the books, unless your a boy then maybe not...
try beautiful creatures. some say they even like them better than THG. (lol impossible!) anyways yeah try beautiful creatures. (its also a series) alot of romance and also like survival stuff and adventrue like Hunger Games. like a mix between twilight and THG. try them out!:)
People should read the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Nessthe first one is the Knife of Never Letting Go
they're a great series
I actually prefer them to THG o.O
Graceling and Fire by Kristin Cashore are decent books. Both have female main characters and romance, but I believe they fall short of what Hunger Games has though. Nevertheless, they are amazing books and well worth a shot.
I've read Chaos Walking. I loved them.
I'm waiting on Bitterblue :)
I'm waiting on Bitterblue :)
This is not totally the same genre since it's more fantasy like, but you should really try and read The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. It is amazing and my favourite series right before THG! It's a series with 6 books, the 5th coming out this May.. (Personally I can't wait since I've just finished Mockingjay and need something to read!) Cassie is an awesome writer so she knows how to write it well. I think you should give it a go. :) The first book will be made into a movie coming out in August 2013..
Yeah I love the Mortal Instruments too, they're really great! Can't wait for number five to come out!
I REALLY suggest either the Matched Trilogy, the Delirium Trilogy or the Divergent trilogy. All are FANTASTIC reads and I enjoyed all of them. (note: none of the third books are out yet

i loved that book!!! Definately read the host next!! but whats this divergent book about?
The Gone or Maze Runner series!!! (my favs, well, other than Harry POtter)
I agree with some of the suggestions on here like the Mortal Instruments and Percy Jackson. They are by far incredible books but if you really want romance and amazing strong girl characters like Katniss, Vampire Academy is for you! The name be turn you off to it if your not into vampires but I promise it is not at all what you think. Give it a try you won't be disappointed!

I read a review about the Hunger Game book and it mentioned that it has things in common with this book, Battle Royale and it has been criticized for its similarities...so if you want to read something like the Hunger Games then this book is the closest to this kind of plot:)
1) Divergent Trilogy2) Delirium Trilogy
Both are similar settings ie. post apocalyptic / dystopian, both are unique in their own way and both have a healthy dash of romance thrown in ;)
Also...both stories are centred around HUMANS and only humans..for those of you (like me) who prefer stories featuring humans over other worldly beings ;)
I would highly recomend Shannon Hale's "Books of Bayern" it starts with "The Goose Girl". They aren't dystopian but it meets your other requirements with three incredible, but yes, slow building romances. And strong female charactors. The books have a twisting story line, humor, trageity, and romance. These are really the very best books I've ever had the pleasure to read.
1) Delirium by Lauren Oliver2) Matched Series by Ally Condie
3) Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth
4) Legend by Marie Lu

try the summoning by Kelley Armstrong, maximum ride by James patterson-anything by him-, or anything by Stephen king. :) some of my favs!
Divergent by Veronica Roth, under the never sky by Veronica Rossi, the maze runner by James ......, the gone series by Michael grant, delirium by Lauren Oliver,
chaos walking by Patrick Ness and the matched trilogy by Ally Condie and I heard that legend was good
chaos walking by Patrick Ness and the matched trilogy by Ally Condie and I heard that legend was good
I would suggest Cinder I recently read it and I haven't read the second book yet but it was a retelling of Cinderella but a futuristic version in which she's a cyborg
City of Bones :D Just finished it too. Wow.
