It's an entire series of short stories.
Each about a day in the life of a typical
Chicago P.I. /wizard.

Also most sf&f dont really have ordianry day type stuff, its all quests and adventures so I can't think of any truly ordianry day type stuff, I live them I don't need to read them. Idk tho try Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut, an ordianry day or couple of days about scifi writer Kilgore Trout.

OK, so your looking for a non-fiction super hero.
Hummm. That's a bit harder.

Hero:
rescued 10 kittens from the tree
helped 5 old ladies across the street
Super-Hero:
saved cats from deadly feline virus that threatened to annihilate all fuzziness from the earth
created special bridge with auto walk way so old ladies can cross anytime, anyplace

It was well attended, but a surprising number of people who complained about the layout of the food court had fatal asthma attacks.

Hmm... this is sounding a bit too much like "go down into the cellar and kill 10 rats". Pretty sure that only gets you a very small way on the road to being a hero.
