The article at the link above says:
"By opting for Jackman, a classy movie and theater star instead of a big-mouth comic, Mark and Condon are signaling that they're trying to turn the Oscars into a party instead of the usual three-hour-plus cobwebby self-congratulatory snooze-athon."

I always enjoy the Oscars, no matter what. To me it's like another New Year's Eve, watching all the glitterati. So I don't agree that the Academy Award Show is a "snooze-athon", do you?

I know a few people who don't enjoy the Oscars, but I always look forward to it. Sometimes my sister visits overnight and we watch it together. That's like a party for me in itself.

Becky (beckymurr) I love to watch too Joy & now all the more!!! Proctor's in Schenectady does an Oscar night get together. I would love to go.....I think Hugh's part from The Boy From Oz, during the Oscars was wonderful-he is so multi-talented & great looking on top of it all!!!

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Becky, that Oscar night at Proctor's must be fun. Trouble is that it's such a long trip from Glens Falls. I saw Jackman in the movie "Kate and Leopold". I liked him immediately.

I loved Peter Allen. I saw him in person in "Legs Diamond" on Broadway. I thought it was terrific, but the critics panned it and it closed. I liked it better than some of the other hit musicals I had seen on Broadway. I never understood why it was panned. Peter Allen was a force... so full of energy and stage presence. Too bad he died so young.

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4050 comments I love Hugh Jackman. Ever since he played Wolverine in the X-Men series he's been a household name.
I just may watch some of the Oscars so I can see him, in anticipation of the new X-Men movie.
Here's a preview for the newest installment of the X-Men movies due in theaters on May 1st.

I am a major X-Men comicbook fan. I've been reading Marvel comics for over 30 years and this particular story was probably the most high anticipated story-arc in all of Marvel long and glorious history. I thought Wolverine's Origin story would never be told.
I even drove to Saratoga to pre-order the graphic novel and pay for it to insure I'd be one of the first to receive it and drove back the day it was released! You know how I feel about driving, Joy, so this had to be a big deal.
X-Men: Origins is my most anticipated movie of 2009.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Let's just hope they do a decent job of it, Jackie. I like the X-men a lot too. I name my computers after them. Since Wolverine is more than 8 characters (causes issues with some command line utils) one old server was named Logan. I had a database server named Beast & email servers - Jubilee & Gambit. My first Microsoft server (I was a Novell guy) was called Magneto!

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4050 comments It'll be great, I have no doubts about it. If it does well in theaters, which it will, they are going to release the Charles Xavier - Magneto Origin story.
Another excellent story-arc.
I love all the X-Men.
Did you see Ironman? It was spectacular. I've had a crush on Tony Stark since I was 11 years old, still do, LOL I didn't think Robert Downey Jr was right for the part, but I was mistaken, he played Tony Stark to perfection. Same with Hugh Jackman for Wolverine, he was too tall, but he also did a fantastic job. After the first X-Men, I was a big fan of his. I've always had a soft spot for Wolvie.
And now we're finally getting Gambit! Oh yeah, I am crazy excited.
2 more Ironman movies are being filmed, 2 more Spiderman, Thor, Captain America, we'll be getting some great comic based movies soon!

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Super. I'm excited too!

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments I just found these recent posts. Don't know how I missed them. I remember Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman. Loved those comics. I guess they were part of Marvel comics.

I looked at the preview Jackie mentioned. The picture was so clear and sharp on my screen. I wouldn't mind watching movies on my laptop if all the pictures were that clear.

Jim, that was quite a list of names. I remember naming my laptop years ago. I had forgotten about that. Can't remember what I called it. I called myself "Alice in Wonderland" because I'd step through the screen and find myself in the Wonderland of the Web.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Is there any reason why the movie clip Jackie told us about above seems so much sharper on my screen than any others I've ever seen? The clip is here: ====>

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4050 comments Joy,
I'm not sure why it looks better.
That's a great site for previews, they get them before anyone else.

I did want to mention I named my computer "HAL" for the killer computer in 2001: A Space Oddyssey. And the bad computer up and died on me, and locked me out of everything! It really was Hal! I guess I should be happy he didn't cut off the air supply, LOL
