This just came in the mail, is it boring?? http://fresh-pages.blogspot.com/

Also one of my all time favorites. She writes so beautifully and her love of books and literature are palatable. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I was intrigued from the very beginning. I could feel, taste and smell the bookstore for example. This is a book to be savored.

I quite enjoyed it (and keep checking to see if the author's got anything else in the wings).

It gets the Gothic mood right and I like those works that move forward by delving into the past.

I recommend it; give it about 80 to 100 pages and, if you're still not sold, move on.

Great read. The twists and turns added were intriguing. I haven't read many Gothic stories, but I really enjoyed this. The author truly evoked time and place.

I listened to it on audio... Get someone to give you an overview of the little details you need from the first CD and skip straight to the second one. The beginning almost made me give up on it. I'm so glad I didn't though, it was a fantastic book, I loved it!

Our book club read it in October and it probably generated more buzz than any other book we have read. I enjoyed it very much. I agree that it would probably appeal more to females than males.

It started out slow, but not long into the book, I was captivated. It was a great read.

I enjoyed it!

I loved it! I hope the author gets busy with another book.

loved it. Not only a good, page-turning read, but a love-letter to reading itself.

Excellent read. Evokes a truly Gothic air effortlessly. Loved everything from her word style, pacing, structure, and the way it pulled me in.

Read it.

Heck Yes! This book rocks! Still think about it and I read it over a year ago.

loved this book.. what an amazing story.

It's good and intriguing but not a page turner...

I listened to the audio book and enjoyed the characters, settings and the lots of talk about books.

I read this some time ago. Not great literature but a compelling story and quite a page-turner.

Yes! Great story and beautifully written...

I love the magical realism! I also found it in One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez and The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende

All three books I definitely recommend!

I read it awhile back. Not boring at all. It was compelling in a morbidly fascinating way.

I was 75 % through and left it, it was not compelling enough and primarily written for a female audience.

Read it over a year ago but thoroughly enjoyed it. A really good read!

Not boring at all, though it took me a few pages to get into it as well (but it is well worth it). The setting and her description was such a intriguing world to be in and I loved the tale (mysteries of the past always fascinate me). Loved it!

It is and awesome read. It starts out slow but the story picks up really quickly and draws you in. I thought about it for days after I read it.

Yes. It was captivating

I have to agree with all these readers! Thirteenth Tale was a great story.

Yes its a good read, definitely worth it.Could'nt put it down.

This is an awesome book! I don't read many books more than once, but this one gets a second read, proabably more. I wish there more like it!

It is a fantastic story that is dark and detailed. I listened to the audiobook which is masterfully narrated by two marvelous voices. The tale is told alternately through two different women so I found that the changes of voice and perspective kept me riveted throughout.

Loved it. Its a novel about novels with a great heroine. There is one line where she is reading a book that she enjoys so much it reminds her of the pleasure reading gave her as a child. This book reminded me of the pleasure I had from reading as a child. Great.

I loved it!!! It has everything one would want in a tale. It had me enthralled.

I love this book. Although it does start off slow but not for long. for me it was a book i could not put down. I cant wait for the author to write a new book
