Questions That Can or Can't be Answered

Ok, so I've been meaning to read this series for a while now. So, I finally got the first book and read it. One word: AWESOME.
I've had a couple of questios about this series that my friends can't tell me without spoiling it. So here it goes, and please, don't spoil it.
1. How old is Darren in the first book?
2. I've only read the first book, so I really want to know this one. Is there going to be romance, like in the movie? I know the movie was the first two books, but still, I want to know.

I've read the first 3 books. Farther than that I've got no clue but I'll try. :)
Well I can say that there doesn't seem to be any budding romances--which is one reason why I'm really liking the series. Beyond #3 I can't say. :)
I'm not sure on his age. I'm assuming you mean the character Darren? I'm thinking 8th grade. While I was reading it I thought he was my age (also 8th grade) but I don't know whether the book said that as a fact or whether it was just how they acted and how the book rolled out.

I've read the entire series quite a few times (its one of my favourites) and I've concluded that he's about 10 or 11 in the first book. The romance is minimal in this series, there's a slight romantic undertone in the third book and it's carried on in books 7/8 onward, but it's absolutely nothing like the movie.
There is romance in the book involving other characters in the series that you will soon learn about. Also Involving Darren and his girlfriend in the first book. But besides that its nothing like the movie.
Yeah he gets with a girl, who is really annoying, called Debbie and she pops up later buts she's way older than him physically- sooo lol.
