I think it inappropriate that in the description field, someone has put 'best book I've read all year'. This is not a description and is a subjective opinion.

Sorry this is not about a description. I really liked this book. It was certainly different and unique and unusual.

While using Charles Dickens as a leitmotif, this book manages to have a vivid life of its own. It hops about a bit, but that adds to its liveliness.It's actually about the resilience of people in stressful times and how a simple a thing as an out-of-date nineteenth century book can still keep up the spirits of the children and the teacher. Rather an accomplishment in the midst of a civil war!
