Jill Maybe this was revealed somewhere in the 500+ pages, but by the time I finished the book, I couldn't remember the content of the lost letter that Meredith received from Juniper. Was the content ever revealed?

Yes it was...but i too have forgotten what it was...it was a long book, and although i enjoyed it, the finer points have since been lost to me...i know it was something that would have changed Meredith's view on what happened, had she received it earlier...but i totally forget why or how...

Roz Juniper told her that she should continue to write and not give up her dreams of being a writer. Unfortunately Meredith never got the letter and was under the impression that Juniper had forgotten about her and either didn't get her manuscrip (the one she had sent to Juniper) or that she hated it so much, she just didn't want to have anything to do with her. In any event, Meredith stopped writing or at least never seriously persued it, and gave up the dream.

Yes!! What Roz said...that's it! :D

Sandi To me, that was the most poignant thing about the book. Not receiving the letter when it was written changed her entire life, which didn't seem very happy. How many people really got letters years after the war?
