message 353: by Vinoth (new)

Vinoth | 4684 comments Spanish is the easiest..followed by french and German..

message 354: by Anbu (last edited Apr 18, 2012 02:13AM) (new)

Anbu (anbutheone) | 4469 comments Oh.. I always thought French is easier if we know English...

message 355: by Vinoth (new)

Vinoth | 4684 comments true anbu.if u understand the grammar in french then you have got it..but i am told that Spanish is even easier..

message 356: by dely (new)

dely | 5485 comments Knowing English then German is the easier language.
house - Haus
ice - Eis
mouse - Maus

...and so on.

Once told me one of my yoga teacher that I am able to remember better words in Sanskrit (and so mantra etc.) because I know German. But I don't remember why :/ In fact I have less problems to remember mantra than the others who know only Italian.
So, if you know also Sanskrit go with German.

Anbu (anbutheone) | 4469 comments Sanskrit and German.. That's intresting... May be because both have Aryan origins.. :)

Anyway I dont know sanskrit.. Now I am confused.. :(.. German or spanish...

I must learn something more about Aryans. Everytime I read this word the first thing I think is Hitler...shivers! But I found it in a lot of books about Hindu philosophy.
French, Spanish, Italian they come from Latin (sometimes the etymology is also Greek) so perhaps it is more difficult for you.

message 359: by Aravind (new)

Aravind P | 1366 comments Latin and Sanskrit too have similarity. I guess Vedic Sanksrit/Avestan Persian must have been the prototype for Indo-European language group.

Dringink poison withou knowing it.
Because if you drink it knowing it's poison, you drink it gladly because you know what you are going to do. In this way poison can become a "sweet drink" chosen of your own will.

@Anbu, it depends why do you want to learn a knew language. If you want to learn French in order to go to France then I would say it is better to know Spanish because it is more spoken. French is spoken only in France (a little bit in Belgium and Switzerland); Spanish is spoken in whole south America in addition to Spain.
French is usefull only for literature. In Russian books I have found a lot of French and it isn't always translated but if you know French it is not a problem.

Suchitra (bookpuzhu) | 1030 comments Srinivas wrote: "whats more torturous, drinking poison or drinking it knowing its poison."

Drinking poison knowing what it isI think the fear of what is going to happen, the fear of death or worse near death but suffering and even if u know exactly what the poison does, wondering if it will and will it act quickly......
The torture in ur mind is always worse than what it actually is.....

When u do not know......u drink like any other drink, shocked by what happens.....

What is ur answer srinivas?

Nivas (booksofnivas) | 93 comments @ Suchitra
u r correct. thats what i experiencing last 3 months. why my father never try to understand me (i and he, too, know, I did terrible mistakes).

@ Dely
i think knowing its poison, is hellish than drinking it without knowing except if i want to die, which i never want to.

In life, I have found that no one person can fully understand another. Each one of ur friends and family understand a part of u. A big or small part. I have realised this and it has made my life easier since when i clash with someone about something, i put that in the ....we differ box.....and move on.....of course that box always holds less than the .....we agree on this box......for my friends and family I trust......
and If u compare books on this site with ur friends, do u find anyone who has ranked the same books the same way u did?.....u can find people with similar tastes but never exactly what ur taste is. If it is that with books, what about other aspects of our life?....
Do not expect anyone to understand u fully.....in a way that is because each person is unique!......
Regarding parents........I have told my kids this......even if I tell u i hate u, even if I promise I hate u fully, even if I swear on u that I hate u......
....that is a lie........I may say things in anger.....but whatever u do, whatever I do, I will always love u......the most in my life.....
All parents r the same the world over.......each one does his or her best as a parent.
