Graysen Hey!

I'm Mx. McHugh from Toronto, Ontario.

Beginning in September, I'll be a Sexual Diversity Studies major at the University of Toronto; I cannot wait!

Reading has always been my favourite form of escape from the outside world. The characters from my favourite novels became my friends when I didn't have any.

Lately, I haven't been reading as much as I'd like to, but now that I'm on a semester-long break, I hope to get back to reading as often as possible.

I'm always up for book recommendations, so feel free to leave me some.

:)

Nancy | 2838 comments Welcome, Mx! I didn't know such a major even existed. One of the many benefits of living in a large city. Though I haven't been to Toronto yet, I have been to Montreal quite a few times. It's about a 5-hour drive and one of my favorite weekend escapes.

I would recommend:

Warchild (Warchild, #1) by Karin Lowachee Burndive (Warchild #2) by Karin Lowachee Cagebird (Warchild #3) by Karin Lowachee

China Mountain Zhang by Maureen F. McHugh

Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler

The God Eaters by Jesse Hajicek

Perdido Street Station (New Crobuzon, #1) by China Miéville The Scar (New Crobuzon, #2) by China Miéville

Spin (Spin, #1) by Robert Charles Wilson The Chronoliths by Robert Charles Wilson Darwinia by Robert Charles Wilson

Interstitial (Interstitial, #1) by Ann Somerville Impedimenta (Interstitial, #3) by Ann Somerville

Wow! Thank you for all of the recommendations!

I never knew such a major existed either. I think Sexual Diversity Studies is normally called Queer Studies or Human Sexuality at other universities that have a sex studies major.

I love Montreal! I've only been there about 3 times now, but it's a really nice city.

Thank you once again for the recommendations. :D

Nancy | 2838 comments Hey Mx, I got back from Montreal a few hours ago. It was funny seeing people walking around in shorts with remnants of snow still on the ground. What a great city! I feel fortunate that it is just over 4 hours by car.

That's awesome! Yeah, it's been such a warm and gorgeous weekend. I was up north in cottage country all weekend where there's still a lot of snow on the ground, but the temperature was around 17-21C everyday. It was confusing but enjoyable nonetheless. XD

Nancy | 2838 comments Here are a few more recommendations:

The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard, #1) by Scott Lynch The Reapers Are the Angels by Alden Bell When Gravity Fails by George Alec Effinger A Dangerous Man by Anne Brooke The Gates by John Connolly

It looks like the entire week is going to be unseasonably warm. I hope my office won't be a sauna like it was last week.

Thank you! I'll add these to my To-Read list as well. :D

Yeah, it does look like these warm temperatures will be sticking around for a while. Eh, that doesn't sound enjoyable. Hopefully your office will turn on the AC or something.

We got near 85° (29°C) yesterday and very humid. I don't ever remember it being like this in March. I'm most comfortable at about 65°, so the AC's been running and thankfully I control the thermostat at work. It's ruining my Spring fever.
