*SPOILERS* The Reason Why Gale Left To Go To District Two

I think all along Katniss loved Peeta in a romantic way, she craved his touch and responded to his kiss. She thought about him constantly and defended him regardless of his behaviour. Katniss and Gale loved each other but in a familiar friendly sort of way she did not seem to crave his touch as such as Peeta. I think towards the end gale new that Katniss truly loved Peeta and understood that he was not able to have Katniss in a romantic sort of way and so this is why he left. I'm sure he is happy that Katniss is happy and perhaps even gained some respect for Peeta.
Honestly I think this is bullcrap. Everyone keeps saying its Gale's fault Prim died like he KNEW Coin was evil. Does everyone forget Coin was scheming everyone ! Gale thought he was helping his side of the war. Obviously his intentions wern't to kill Prim he loved her & fed her when Katniss wasnt there. I think Gale left for District 2 becaue its where he belongs. He plays a big role in the resistance so of course he's gonna go where everythings happening. As for Katniss she was all over the place & she led them both on at points which just want right. I think the ending was crappy because she didn't really pick I feel she should've put on her big girl pannies & chose she she was big enough to lead them both on & the way Gale just disapeared , like he litterally was just gone. & I feel like Peeta was just there so she chose him cause she was what she had which isnt fair to neither boy when they both loved her.
No, its because Katniss was pissed with Gale because he invented the bomb that killed Prim :'( :( then he was so depressed because Katniss hated him but still loved him in a way deep deep down. Then he moved to a different Districk because he got a job offer then Katniss falls in love with Peeta after they made up and stopped hating each other BUT! President Snow is still angry with them so he gets all the Hunger Games winners and makes them com peat with each other even Haymige :'( :( BUT before Prim is killed President Snow visits Katniss And says that she has to pretend to love him and if she doesn't one of her loved ones will be killed Personal i think its a good plot but sad i dont think they should of killed Prim if any one i think her mother because when their father died Prims and Katniss's mother was not there for them for half their life BUT you never know Prim might live in the film HOPEFULLY she DOES she's so sweet most people will be Heart Broken if she dies :(
OK, I'll let everyone know why he left. Take this from a guy who loved a girl but knew she would never reciprocate. This is how guys deal with that kind of emotional pain. Gale loved Katniss but knew that she wouldn't pick him over Peeta. And even if she did Gale knew it wouldn't be like it was before the games. The two of them have changed and he knew that he couldn't have her, not the way he wanted it to be. So to avoid the emotional pain of seeing her with Peeta he decided to leave and work far away from District 12 just to avoid her and the emotions it would stir.
I think he knew Katniss would pick peeta because of the akwardness with prim and the bomb thing and there was nothing left 4 him back in district 12, and he was offered a good job in district 2. I think Katniss did the right thing when she chose peeta. Team Peeta!!!
Too be honest, I think Gale knew Katniss didn't love him and it's obvious she didn't if she goes to all that trouble to save Peeta from the damn capital and cant sum up the courage to catch up to Gale before he catches a train...

I think she chose Peeta because he was just there. I don't feel like she ever really got to chose between the two.

"I don't know. Neither does Beetee," he says. "Does it matter? You'll always be thinking about it."
He waits for me to deny it; I want to deny it, but it's true.
I truly think Gale is a hypocritical fool; he hated the Capitol because they killed innocent children. Even though we don't know for sure it was his bomb, we can assume there's a high chance it was his. So, saying it was his bomb, he killed innocent children as well with the bomb-just because they lived in the Capitol, how was there responsible for the life they lived if they didn't know any better. Does that make sense?

I always thought, Gale just understood Katniss far better than Peeta. I felt like he knew her, and he left, not because he felt guilty about killing Prim. But he knew that Katniss would always be reminded the Gale was making bombs like that, it she would never move on from Prim's death. From the way Suzanne wrote it, I keep feeling that Katniss just gave up on a love she's have to fight for, and settled with Peeta. Peeta may have loved her, but in the beginning it was more like he couldn't see any of her faults. Then when he could see all her faults their love was never the same...
I think Gale left Katniss because he felt bad about what happened to Prim and because being in district 12 brought back bad memories of the bombing. Also, Gale knew that Katniss would choose Peeta over him and he did not want to face that pain.
Gale had only one thing going for him to have a chance with Katniss; that he protects her family. He realized at the same time as her that she couldn't live with someone as rebellious as her. she needed someone who could be a soft spot in darkness; Peeta. After all that has happened, Katniss wouldn't want to be part of the rebellion but if she and gale were together, the horrors of war would continue. She needed space and time to get herself back together and Gale loved her enough to give her that!
He knew that his time with Katniss was up and that Peeta's time was just starting. He didn't wan't her to go through the pain of having to decide between them when he already knew the outcome. He gave her the space that she needed!
Okay, assuming it was becuase it was traumatic for him, why not contacting Katniss? He could easly send her letters or call, try to make her hear him out. But he did nothing. I think the reason he truly left is because he feels guilty. I mean, he knew Prim. She was like a little sister to him, and he's indirectly responsible for her death. I'm sure he blamed himself, and probably knew Katniss blames him too, and he deserves it. That he doesn't deserve forgiveness so he left her. But still, it was selfish, he left his best friend in the time she most needed him too, and ever after years he still hadn't contacted her?
Maybe he left because he didn't want to have to face Katniss. But if we want to know I guess we would have to ask the author. I was kind of sad Gale left because I think he and Katniss still could've continued their lives together just as friends.
I think some people define Gale based only on his relationship with Katniss. He IS a human being with his own beliefs and all that, ya know. I think District 12 wouldn't do much for him after the war. He's in District 2 because there, he could be active in rebuilding Panem. He's always been wanting to get involved with how things worked.
BTW, I also think it's unfair to blame Gale on Prim's death. I mean he wasn't the direct cause of it. I also do believe that he knew long before Katniss did, that it was Peeta all along.
Yeah, I don't think he was bad for going to District 2. There was nothing for him in District 12, he knew he could never be with Katniss, even seeing her would probably have made him so guilty over how it was his plan that killed Prim. He was offered a good job in District 2, he was offered a new life, to start over, and I think that was what was best for everyone. I believe that he and Katniss probably do rekindle their friendship years later, but at that time it was for the best that he left to start a new life and forget the horrors of war, Katniss would have been too much of a reminder of his mistakes.
I think gale left because it hurts to much to be around her and he loves her 100% to let her go because he knows its better for her even though he dosent want to admit and i do not blame him for prim's killing because he tired to stop it but the rebles refused to stop it and honsly i think she should of went with gale because thats her lover, her hunting pal, and her best friend . I also think she would be sad with out him messing up her hunting and her going to him to make her feel better and thier hang out so honlsy he's the one who got away.
... or maybe he just got over Katniss and found a new life for himself in a new district. Not everything's connected to a 'lost love'. Maybe he's happy where he is, maybe he's really happy with his life over there. He might have found his calling. No big deal.
I was disappointed the way Gale's story was ended. It was literally said in one sentence that he went to District 2 and with him being a main character it should have been more detailed what happened to him.
For me his existence sort of drifted away and I had to go back to read the last few chapters because I couldn't figure out what happened to him. And just as I suspected the first time I read it, there were no answers.

But remember that we're in Katniss' head. If that's all she knew about what happened to Gale then that's all we could know. He left for District two and they weren't exactly on good terms so I doubt he kept in contact with Katniss and let her know how he was doing.
Throughout the whole story you see the types of people Gale and peers both are. Yes, they both fit with katniss but in different ways. It explains that peeta made her feel love where as Gale it was mildy Said but I do believe it was also there. Towards the end of mockingjay The tension of Gale and katniss rose higher and higher as they started not getting along as much and that to me was already the start of separation little by little. if you think about peeta's situations she really really cared for what happens to him. She payed more attention to peeta and how she felt towards him even when she's in The capital, even when everything horrible is happening The feeling always revolves around her. Knowing that peetas memories could be gone forever devastated her more than what she had with Gale at The moment. There was a love and hate relationship between Gale and katniss and it got worse when Gale sunk into being a soldier. Gale wouldn't have cared who died in The process where he stated that some gave to die when they blew up that mountain where The mines were. I believe that's why she said in the very end she always needed peeta . Peeta's views were always different in my opinion. Alas, in The end it states Gale and peeta had a conversation and yes both handling it like men talked about katniss peeta tried to convince him it was you she needs not me. Gale at that point already wasn't convinced that she really wanted to be with him. Yes she'll choose the one she needs to survive but The only way he can ever get her attention is if he's in pain and he knew that. in peetas case she would care about him all The time. And in The end when a girl holds a place place in her heart for you it's hard to just forget who you were, who you once were to her. That's why I think she sent letters to him hoping maybe a response but sometimes it doesn't work like that and Gale knew what he had to do for himself, and to help his best friend katniss recover and life the rest of her life to The best ability as she can.
Kylie wrote: "I think Gale would have gone to District 2 regardless if the bombing killed Prim or not. From the very beginning Gale was an activist. He wanted change and he wished to be part of it. I think Distr..."Good post. Gale would have wanted to finish his work, not just settle down peacefully. Although Katniss is similar, she went through a traumatic experience and needed to face a quiet life. As much as Gale loved Katniss, it'd make him pretty one-dimensional if he made every decision based on Katniss.
I think it's pretty harsh to blame Gale for what happened to Prim. It was ultimately Coin who sent Prim and the hovercraft, although no doubt Gale would feel guilty as he promised to look after her family.... sad.
I think Gale went because he knew there was nothing keeping him where he was: he knew Katniss loved Peeta and he didn't have a chance. Katniss would never look at him in the same way again, and he knew it was over.

I think you're right. He was sad, because in the end, Katniss never loved him the way she wanted it
Probably the memories hurt to much. After all those years he had spent there, with her, with their families, after everything that could have been...it was just to much.
Putting "*SPOILERS*" in the beginning of a spoiler does not prevent people from reading the title. If anything, it compels them to read it more.
I think that Gale went 2 district 2, was cause he didn't like that Katniss killed Coin. And he sort of admired Coin.

Yeah, I agree with it on that.

Yeah, I agree with it on that.
Why did he leave D12... because that's the most normal thing to do. First of all, Peeta and Katniss were meant to be together at the end, just for the same reason as Haymitch is living with them in the Victors Village and not anyone else. Why?: Because they all have walked the same road. They all have fought in the Games. They all are fucked up in a way people like us couldn't even imagine to begin with. They have killed other innocent people to survive the Games, no one of them wanted to kill them, because... no one choose to be there. No one choose to be there and kill people just because it's fun. It's because it was necessary.
Katniss and Peeta were forced to be together, play a happily couple, because otherwise their loved ones would be killed. Haymitch was forced to mentor them... and was with them every step of the way.
Gale never understood the feeling Katniss was experiencing in in that moment. He was watching tv... and Katniss was fighting in that arena.
Gale was fighting off the Capitool when they attacked the district and bombed it. He went all the way to get his family/friends out.
He was pissed... he was a soldier in every word. He was going to make them pay for it.
Katniss... was not a soldier. Katniss is a survivor. Her prime idea is surviving... and that's why Gale and Katniss couldn't be together.
Peeta, Katniss, Haymitch -> the survivors of the Games, of District 12. In life, it's normal... it's normal to stick with the ones who understand you. Who get you... ( because how terrible must it be, to always make people try and understand what you're feeling)
Why we haven't seen Gale's ending? Because we followed the books through Katniss her view. Katniss doesn't have Facebook, so she can't just google someone. If she doesn't see someone, she can't know how they are doing.
Why did Gale leave for another district? Well, why not? Why wouldn't he leave for another district? D12-> traumatic, dead people lingering all over the place, memories of your loved ones, facing Katniss ( and Gale just is a smart guy, he know she is going to be with Peeta, because Peeta understands her more than him... but that doesn't mean he is just going to sit happy on her doorstep, seeing her kissing him all the time), having a lonely live...
No, I get it. I get it why he wanted to just take his bags and move away from that. He wanted to start over, find a shot of happiness. And IMO, he did. Gale is a handsome guy, a good fighter/Soldier, who was friends with the Mockingjay, who has helped free Panem. He was probably hidding somewhere in D2 at some point, away from all his fangirls. ;)
Gale will find his happiness, as much as can be expected from a guy who has seen wartime and survived.
He will marry someday ( with a girl who will understand him and love him) and have a bunch of kids. ( And in the end, he will build a bunker in his own garden, and learn his kids how to fight).. and probably he will be a president of the New Panem once in his life.
Gale didn't leave in anger, in cowardence. No reason to be pissed at Gale at all. Gale is a hero in Panem, And Gale didn't just leave Katniss in the end, because he didn't want to go back to D12. His life was not there anymore. His life was close to the Capital, where he will be fairly happy and have a bunch of fans instead of dead people waiting for him.
Gale left for district 2 for several reasons. He was selfish, he was full of anger, and the ultimate price he paid was Primrose, granting him Katniss' anger. He wasn't a bad guy, he just had very wrong reasons to fight and those reasons pushed him away from Katniss because Katniss actually knew what was going on. Maybe not about the rebellion, maybe not about how the rebels wanted to infiltrated the Capitol or any other technical stuff, but she knew why they were fighting. Like Haymitch said: "Remember who the real enemy is." Gale forgot, Katniss didn't, and that ultinamtely drove him away from Katniss. Since he was separate from her he had nothing to do returning to District 12. You don't fight for hatred, you fight for freedom, which is what Peeta, Finick and the rest were fighting for. Gale never had to suffer what the Capitol was in reality. The kind of suffering him and his family had to go through was vastly different than that of Katniss and the Victors and doesn't justify this amount of anger, to be completely honest. I mean, Katniss is his friend, but he just loses a friend if she dies, her family loses their backbone and economic support and Peeta loses his loved one. I'm no entirely sure he actually loves her when she's forced to volunteer, more like has a crush on her,
He didn't have PTSD BEFORE the rebellion, he didn't have a small child that reminded him of Posy die in his arms after him killing a tribute personally, he didn't hear her voice coming from Jabberjays without being able to escape from it. In fact the only time one could have said he witnessed a fraction of what happened to Katniss was when he was flogged and then when District 12 burnt down. He was a willing, even an eager soldier, he didn't try to understand Katniss' position and pushed her and pushed her till she broke. He never really gave her any support after the first trip to the arena, and never really tried to understand her, he preferred his anger over his love for her and tried to make her decide on her feelings for his own benefit instead of her own.
I think that in the end he realised all that, and he left in order to stop hurting Katniss with his uncontrollable hatred and selfishness. Maybe in a distant future he might be able to reconcile with her, once he grows up and moves past this unjustified anger he has. But I don't see it as likely, Gale's personality is like that: he holds grudges, his willing fuel is hatred, and Katniss has had quite enough of that.
Plus, going back to District 12 for someone like Gale would mean a lot of pain and regret. Katniss took it as a place where she could go heal because the spirit of her sister was there. Another reason why Gale left her both physically and emotionally.

Also Katniss and Gale didn't want to get to a point where Katniss would hate Gale because like I said she would remember Prim's death every time she sees Gale's face.
