ABANDONED. YA Where character memorizes encyclopedia

Hearing about the encyclopedia britanica going out of print made me remember reading a book (YA or MG) as a kid that had a character who memorized the headings of encyclopedias.

Anyone know what book this might be?

Oh, yes, I should have thought of Into the Forest. It's one of my favorite books.

Nope. It's some random YA or MG from the late 90s, I think. I remember the kid carting around the "A" volume of the encyclopedia and memorizing the headings of sections on each page.

How about My Brother Made Me Do It by Peg Kehret. It's MG. Written in letters. Girl gets diagnosed with juvenile arthritis. Her younger brother gets her into all sorts of crazy situations and it memorizing the encyclopedia. They end up reciting it at a talent show.
