Sarah Woodbury has a different strategy. Instead of joining KDP with its restrictions, she makes the first book in a series free, permanently, on all channels. The numbers are in the article referenced.

Getting better... although I haven't tried any serious writing yet. lol. Only 6 weeks past brain surgery and I'm doing most of what I used to, so I'm really happy with the recovery. There were people in hospital when I was there with similar problems that fared a lot worse and might never recover. Very sad.

Now I just need to get back into editing, but I have a bit of a mental block about it. I have a new series of three (so far) books that I plan on putting out. First one free. The surgery delayed things a bit.
