Hello everybody :)I'm an English student and avid reader. My favourite genres are Fantasy and Crime. I read all kinds of crime-novels (though not a big fan of thrillers...) and also love historic crime-novels. I guess my favourites are Ellis Peter's Cadfael-novels, they'll always have a special place in my heart because they were among the first crime-novels I read.
It looks like this group started strong but has grown awfully quiet. I'm actually not all that big on medieval crime stories but thought this would be a way to expand my horizons a bit.I'm a medieval historian so naturally this caught my eye. My day job is as a web programmer, but I'm on the edge of retirement (3 more months!). I also am adjunct faculty at Boise State University, and I will continue to teach (crusades, late middle ages, reformation) until I can no longer do it. I look forward to looking through the book recommendations here.

Sadly, as soon as I started this group, I got stuck in several new projects that slowed everything down. However, with sixteen titles as ebooks, and this year's story published, I'm going to have to get back to work again!
Good to meet you here, Skip, and Aoife too. Apologies for being tardy. It should hot up again now!

Hello all,I've been around for a little while. I work in computers for the Federal Gov't and I grew up an Army Brat in the 60's and 70's. I'm married with 3 wonderful daughters, and the youngest starts College next year and 2 grand children. I've been reading Mediveal and Ancient Mysteries for years. Michael was one of the authors that got me into the Genre. In addtion to Michael some of my favorite historical mystery authors are (in no particular order)
Mediveal
Bernard Knight
Susanna Gregory
Paul Doherty
C.J. Sansom
Partica Finney
Kate Sedley
Edward Marston
Sharan Newman
Candace Robb
Ancient
Ruth Downie
Steven Saylor
Lindsey Davis
I'm pretty sure I've missed some :)

Janet-your work sounds very detailed; I use Daler Rowney acrylic paint, adding a variety of textures eg seeds, leaves, sand etc. I usually work on boxed canvases, but I work small scale too on MDF in hand-carved frames so they look like icons.
